Hey Kev, can't thank you enough. Just finished the job today and was literally following you step by step. The only difference was I found it easier to remove the suspension arm from the 2 bolts rather than the ball joint. I did panic a little bit when I couldn't work out where the speedo drive is. I though I ripped it off but its all working. Thanks for the great video. There is only one small thing that could elevate it, if you had subtitles or something showing which size tools you are using. P.S. YOU BEAST !!! THAT GEARBOX WEIGHS A F**K TON. I bitched out and used a jack to help me lift it :D

CoolAirVw Rm thanks for a great review. Really appreciate it coming from a VW mechanic makes it the more valuable. Since I launched the business i have yet to have a day without booking. Usually it’s two weeks waiting list. I suppose it works well as a lot of my customers are at work and they come out. Vehicle is ready to head home. Or for anyone having a day off work I’m there at their premise.... so the convenience is the USP. Thanks again for taking time to visit and subscribe to the channel. Very much appreciated

Awesome video. I'm about to do one for a friend this weekend. Just two questions: 1: what is holding the subframe, why is it not on the floor ? 2: did you not have to align the clutch to the pressure plate? Hopefully you will answer before I find out the hard way :D great Video, great job, much respect mate!!!
@WMCS4 жыл бұрын
1. Only unbolt the one side of the subframe as shown in the video. And the mounts. If it’s a 1.9 or a 2.0 they are much easier than the 2.5 there’s video of the the two others on the channel. Watch both for more in depth alignment of clutch. And you don’t have to remove the long drive shaft either. On this 2.5 I used my finger to centre the plate.
@taipoio14 жыл бұрын
@@WMCS Thanks for the answer. I'm doing a 2.5tdi. I though you only did one side of the subframe but wasn't sure if you just didn't film the other side. I will try to use the alignment tool I've got if I can squeeze it in. Was it a pain lifting it back up ? I have an engine crane.. was considering using a sling and the crane before watching you bench it 🤣
@WMCS4 жыл бұрын
If you need more room then slacken the other side of the subframe about 1/2 inch and it should give you more space for the gearbox to go into the wheel arch. You should have plenty room for the alignment tool that way. The box is heavy. I’m not gonna lie ., at least 11stone .,, so an extra pair of hands would come in handy.
