2004 Toyota Corolla Speaker Upgrade (Front & Rear)

Upgrading the speaker system on my brothers Toyota Corolla. Replaced the front and rear speakers with some upgraded kicker speakers.

4:00 heads up.. Don't get that step wrong. Reversing polarity in any of your speakers will offset any quality gains you invested in elsewhere.

IT DEFINITELY MATTER'S WHICH IS POSITIVE+NEGATIVE!!! IT'S CALLED CHECKING POLARITY. I'D ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL ON THE BATTERY PRIOR ‼️‼️‼️

@@ModdingAddiction I did both 6.5 and 6x9 with kickers I also replaced my stereo with a new jvc and I have a Sony 1200w amp with (as of right now) one 10 inch sub but I was pretty glad I found a guide to this

Informative video! I have a question about the rear deck speakers. Firstly, I have the same speakers for the rear as you and I was wondering how you installed the rear ones. The speaker is slightly smaller than the factory speaker hole so a modified adapter bracket is needed I think. But I saw in the video you just screwed it in. Did you just drill new holes and secure it that way or how did you do it? Kind of stuck at this point...

We ordered the adapter plates for it but they never came in the mail so we just drilled into the rear deck. Everything turned out ok though with a little weather stripping for vibrations and some self tappers. The rear plastics cover the speakers so looks aren’t super important

Hello, I am planning to replace the rear deck. Can it be remove just by moving the belts out?

Unfortunately no it can not. There is a couple pieces that have to come out even before you can get to the bolts for the seat belts. It’s not very hard just be carful with the c pillars. They proved to be the hardest part of the rear deck

Where did you get that speaker adapter?. The one my aftermarket speakers came with are not even close to the original bracket holes

I ordered a set off of amazon. They weren’t a perfect fit but at least they worked. The Toyota has a special adapter outside of the adapter that comes with the speakers. Hope this helps

I forgot to buy the adapter plate for the rear so just laid them in for now. Did you put the speaker cover on or just left yours off. I left mine off thinking the panel would go back on better. What is your thoughts

I just screwed the speakers into the metal. I left the covers off because the deck cover has a grate on it

They are a 6x9. The stock housing is a little bigger but the standard 6x9 will fit

Why is it better to solder?

Soldering ensures a better contact both in connectivity as there is a better contact between both wires but it is a also stronger connection. That being said butt Connected’s will work fine as the cord will never be under strain. Soldering can be less bulky too if you are taping everything up together

Not professional but don't change the terminal instead of positive to negative or negative to positive for the speaker it will affect bass in the speakers

Yeah I miss spoke with that. While they still work it’s not ideal
