What are the safe points to jack and place jack stands? We have a lot of rust along the beam where the emergency jack (factory jack) goes. I found the arrows on the bottom frame and planned to lift there and then place jackstand where the factory jack would lift the vehicle. Good idea?

No my friend find the frame under the vehicle and use that to jack it up instead.

What are the small brakes inside the rear rotor

That's your emergency brake, which is a drum brake design. Normally does not require any maintenance when changing the rear brake pads.

Great except the point of bleeding brakes is not about resetting the brake pressure. As already commented, fingers in reservoir is bad idea and pumping brake pedal all the way is also not so good for master cylinder. However, the purpose of bleeding brakes is to run new fluid through the lines and caliper/drum cylinder (depending on brake type). Bleeding also removes air bubbles- another cause of brake squeal or soft brake pedal. You have to remember, auto brakes are not a looped hydraulic system so the fluid near the caliper/drum cylinder is always the exact same fluid every time you use your brakes. That fluid is getting very hot and brakes down. Always bleed your brakes.

A great mechanic would not tell you to not bleeding your brakes

I like this. Short to the point. I do agree about the finger in the brake fluid. Yes not a good idea. But all else is groovy...Thanks

Not a good idea to stick your finger into the brake fluid reservoir. Good way to contaminate the fluid. When you pump the brake pedal, it’s a good idea to only go half way down as you are pushing it past the point it normally goes. This could damage the seal in the master cylinder.
