Very cool man, this is the only video that shows how to remove that intake. I needed this to get access to replace the fuel injectors and maybe even inspect the valve cover gaskets. Good stuff 👍

I replaced the IMRC in my 2004 F-150 without removing ANYTHING except the carburetor and cold air intake. I was able to get behind the manifold to remove the push rod clips, the plug and the IMRC. That being said.......... It was an absolute nightmare. Lol. If you ever have to replace your IMRC......... Drain your fluids (oil and coolant), take the alternator and manifold off, and do it the easy way. It will take between 3 and 8 hours depending on your experience level and determination to get it done. The "short cut" method I used takes so much longer, you gotta deal with fiberglass all over your hand, the injector line squeezes the hell out of your wrists and your guaranteed to drop clips, bolts and tools multiple times. You don't want to deal with that BS.

What was the problem I know it was stuck open but did it have compression or loose compression? Just wondering

It won't affect compression, just air fuel ratio. It had a rough idle because of it, and obviously, a check engine light.

I did the same to fix the bushings in the stepper motor and also noticed the loose bolt in the very back. Still have a check engine light on but the car is now running way better. Time to to figure out what else it could be

The one I replaced in this video broke where it wouldn't let the valves close all the way. Could be the case for yours, or maybe the stepper motor got off just a smidgen. Your codes are P2004 and/or P2006?

@@GreenCastleGarage I'm only getting P2004 as a code. From what I've gathered that code can be triggered by faulty sensors as well. Since I'm the only one who has done maintenance, I figure I'll replace all components slowly but surely.

Ok, so I checked Alldata for other idea's that could cause it and, other than the solenoid itself, shorted wire to the solenoid plug and blocked vacuum line are the only other possible causes listed. Alldata isn't 100%, but it should be a good starting point when you try and continue to narrow it down.

@@GreenCastleGarage That is definitely a big heads up, much appreciated. I've kept reading and in fact most people do suggest to check for faulty air lines. Delamination is all too common even when the hoses don't visually show deterioration

Thanks appreciate the feedback, and unfortunately, it's not quite the same. It's very similar, but it's mounted at the rear dead center below the intake. On the 5.4l it appears you need to pull the intake to get to it, at least easily. Not a bad job though
