2005 Mazda 6 stalling and rough running

No fault codes present. The fuel pressure would only get to 2.5bar when it should be around 4bar at idle.
The final diagnosis was faulty intake fuel filter, but this case highlights the industry problem of technicians not checking in-tank fuel filters.

I was reading my user manual recently and found that scheduled fuel filter replacement for my Mazda 6 GH is at 150000km. I doubt that there are many cars with this mileage that still go back to the dealer for servicing, so it is unsurprising that this gets overlooked in regular servicing by independent mechanics. I'm only at 120000km, so I guess I will need to decide whether to replace the filter or just replace the whole assembly with the pump. It would be a pain to go to the effort of changing the filter, only for the pump to fail soon after.

Can I swap engine gearbox from a 2007 to 2004 model without having any problems
