I do a lot of deck repairs, same Idea keep the water out, I never use silicone, ever! I only use 100% poly-urethane sealant, hands down the best sealant ( with my applications), if the surface prep is not done properly for silicon ( most don't prep properly )it will lift and you can just pull it off in strips especially if there is constant dampness present, not so with urethane it's a 100% seal, lay it, apply to screw holes and so on and forget it! I think a lot of people and even companies automatically think silicon is the way to go, but that is definitely not the case. Great presentation, but I'm glad you're doing the job and not me!😂😎

Bluebird used a double wiper non air slide seal on the 450 Lxi and I believe the M380 is the same. Prior to that they did use air slide seals on their slide buses. My kid just bought a late 90s Bounder. I'll have to go over it. It has the 'super' slide. Now my Wanderlodge is like the bus one you talked about. The bladders do dry out and leak. I got lucky when I found a new bladder seal in a box, in the basement. The one in it is good and I have been treating it to try to keep it that way. Need to replace wiper as it provides UV protection too. The slide controller box is tied into the body computer. It's nuts watching the system go thought the process to extend or retract the slide. I stored the new slide in the house. The owners got together last year and made a mass order of seals. Had to spend like 12,000$ min to get a set made custom. That is the second time they have done that since the early 00s

Whoa that's definitely not good and flawed by design. At least you have the video of the tear down to kind of CYA with. Hopefully you're working with a good customer who understands you can't redesign what's already there only modify it. If anyone can make this work and not leak it's you. I really hope this customer also understands how truly lucky they are to have you doing this. For one I'm almost positive you're not charging them enough for this job and even though you aren't you'll do your best, which is considerable, to fix it...

Great video as usual all be it a bit long. Big project. I watch most all of your videos, especially those that evolve early 2k Monacos as I have a 2005 Safari Cheetah that was made by Monaco. I am currently about 3k miles from AZ or I would have you take a look at a related issue. Earlier this year I had all the slide seals and toppers replaced, and the slides adjusted by Talin RV in FL. We have no leaks but during the topper change I noticed sun leaking in at one corner of one slide. Even after the topper and seal installation and the slide adjustments when the sun and the RV are at the correct angle I get sun light leaking in when the slide is deployed. Tailin's tech said he made the maximum adjustment to the slide but could not close the gap and suggested I use pipe foam insulation to fill it the gap. While this blocks the light it is far from Ideal. On close inspection, when the slide is deployed the slide appears to have a good seal toward the front of the RV but a gap at the back starting about 30" from the back. This is not a flush floor slide but a raised slide on the kitchen side. It appears the slide seal should be closing against a piece of aluminum angle but is not making contact. The topper is preventing water leakage but air and cold comes through with abandon. Any suggestions?

Old slide out seals do certainly suck. I have an '05 Monaco Knight 38PDQ. I have leaks on both outer corners of both main slides. The wiper on the flush slide has rolled like yours here. I have to have someone fix that. All four outside bottom corners of the slides have some separation of the plastic from the edge like there was no corner trim. I think rain just follows that edge right into the coach. I'm going to install slideout skis for a real corner seal and drip edge. There's also a 1/2" wide flat seal around the outside perimeter of the slide rooms and a 3/4" seal around the perimeter of the slide hole on the body (both main slides). Can I replace all the flat seals with a new bulb seal on the perimeter of the slide room only that squeezes shut when the slide comes in?

If you're in AZ it should be dry in a couple days? I have a 98 Windsor with a 16' driver slide it is hydraulic. When I bought it the owner said they had issues with leaking so they added more rubber and didn't let the box contact the wall using spacers on the two hydraulic arms. It is spaced out about an inch. I would be interested to see this operation. Does it go down for a level floor to slide? Mine has an all metal box and roof it looks like they put a rubber roofing on the top of yours. I couldn't see if there was a slope to the slide to keep the water on the outside edge. Of course leveling and maybe even leaning it might help. It looked like the topper was short. The topper seems like it should pour over the slide but this design looks like it is a gutter and the water pours out the front and back. I'm not sure about the topper if you have a smooth roof and a slope as it still gets dirt and leaves up there and is hard to keep clean. I took mine off. My slide has a thick aluminum wrapped on the three sides welded at the corners where the fascia boards are mounted to. It is a strong box. One thing is my box is aluminum and you need to keep airflow around the sofa and keep the cupboards open when stored in humid climates. The Monacos with all the metal in the walls has a tendency to create condensation on the walls in cold climates anyway. They should be kept in AZ. Mine has the three rollers and that bottom section under the sink can get very moist. The plywood shrinks over time just by drying out. I took the carpet off my slide and just exposed the bare wood under the sofa. My sofa had three seat belts installed through the plywood of the slide floor. I don't know if it would have held the sofa in place let alone a person in an accident. People might want to check that. Mine doesn't leak but it is falling apart with age The extra 19 inches makes it worth it for me, I was glad I found it. Thanks for the videos they are very interesting.

These manufacturers should not use wood at all. So cheaply made such a shame.

They just need to make a slideout jacuzzi , this way we won’t have to worry about the water. :)

What about the water inside roof of slide just leave it? Mold ?

Hope you can get it all dries out before you have to put it back together.

I would have liked to. Time is a demanding taskmaster sometimes, this owner had life situations that would not allow the weeks to dry out. I did make recommendations and wiped down as much as I could. Thanks!

Water leak not related to slide out... But you seem to respond so I will ask. I have a leak at the back of my 34-ft Class A coach that I recently purchased. I've been advised to reseal the end cap at the top, in the lights, and the camera. Should I be removing the existing dicor, and cleaning that all up? Or just clean end cover the existing dicor. It seems to me that removing and checking for dirt trails is a better plan.

If you have the time, it's better to remove the old sealant for sure. Thanks!

@@AZExpert thanks for the quick response... When it comes to doing it vs doing it right - I have the time.

I have 2017 Thor Synergy RV motor home with two slides..The slide over couch is leaking and I will never buy another RV with slides, for sure!

If you need the space they are handy but they do require upkeep and maintenance

That angle was effective if it had been properly installed and it is actually necessary to seal the bulb seal properly. If the angle is properly installed water wont get back behind it keeping water out of the coach.

Gear video! Would an RV cover help if it's leaking when closed or will it cause other problems? Thanks

Rv covers are a waste of money

@@AZExpert Thanks for the reply. I get there are cons to covers but I feel like if I can't check on my unit after every storm (got water in with slides closed!) a cover would be good. Also, isn't tge sun really bad in AZ? Do you just feel like waxing is better?

The way some of these rvs were made is criminal in my opinion. luckily Monaco has been purchased I heard my Thor, I own a 2019 Thor and it is the worst. 2 slides one has never worked right, I could go on but you get the picture.

Do you have a video or blog on how a slide-out Should be built?
