@@b.e.409 I've been researching purchasing Lexus ES 300/330 from the same generation as the 05 camry. I"ve seen other videos saying the Lexus ES series is an upgraded camry. Supposedly, the ride is more comfortable and smoother than the camrys. Depending on the mileage, the prices are almost the same.

Very reliable cars. Have a 4 cylinder version (XLE) with 210k miles that looks every bit as new as this one and runs great, too. Amazing cars.

Yes they are. Funny thing is, though, three weeks after I write that comment my Camry made me mad and blew its head gasket! The back three head bolts stripped out; super common issue on the first generation of that 2.4 4 cylinder. But I am going to keep the car anyway and try to forgive it lol
@southwestvajeeper5106
@southwestvajeeper5106 Жыл бұрын
Man, that is sad. Supposedly, the 2.4s weren't supposed to have that issue unless the engines were overheated. Mine never overheated but stripped those back three bolts out anyway. It started as a gurgling/waterfall noise when starting the vehicle on a cold morning that would go away after one or two accelerations, then gradually became worse and worse until it was constantly making the noise. When coming to a stop, there was this Niagra Falls-like noise that was highly disconcerting. Then, it finally blew the head gasket. Anyway, as frustrated as I am with that Camry, I still know better than to give up on it entirely. That was just a mistake that Toyota made and they later fixed, so I can't hold it against them too hard being the first year of that car. I decided to fix it. Should have several hundred thousand miles of life left afterwards, I hope 😂

What did you do to maintain the look of the car keeping it looking new?
@southwestvajeeper5106
@southwestvajeeper5106 2 ай бұрын
@@skippercow Clean, clean clean. Vacuum it weekly. Use leather conditioner on the seats weekly. Wipe the dashboard with microfiber dust mit. Nothing special just got to keep the dirt out of the leather or it will dig its way it and damage the surface. Also this may sound silly but don't drag yourself across the seat when you climb in and out. I make it a point to LIFT myself off the driver seat every single time I climb in and out. It has kept the leather from wearing away and exposing the foam. Seen lots of perfectly good seats that wear out just because people pull themselves across the seat.

I just bought a 2005 Camry XLE V6 as my second car. Overall, the built quality is very good, except for the cheesy fake wood trim, and the leather seats are decently comfy, though the cloth seats of this gen are definitely better. There's plenty of rear seat legroom. The radio and CD tape player works awesome, the controls and displays are top notch. The trunk is huge. My biggest beef with this Camry is just how light and lifeless the steering feel is. Compared to the heavy steering of my old '05 Grand Prix, which I loved, steering this car akin to driving through oatmeal. The best things about this car are its supremely smooth V6 and great ride quality. Oh, and the brakes on the XLE are excellent.
@RT22-pb2pp
@RT22-pb2pp 7 ай бұрын
Yes steering is a thing you have to get used to little feel but it is sedan not sports sedan. I just recently put powerstop drilled slotted rotors and pads all 4 corners, even better than stock. I tend to brake late and hard and warp front rotors. To many yrs on bikes have made me a hard braker. Almost like I am in race lol. Gf says I am going to die if brakes ever go out, I said nope with camry just gonoff road and deal with it lol

Well! I was crashed twice at different times... I still repaired it on both occasions, because it had no problem mechanically speaking, but for my type of work, I already needed something more modern. If it hadn't been for that, I would still have it... it will always be one of my favorite generations. In my family we have had all generations of Camrys! to this day. 1982-2022. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

I bagged a 05 v6 XLE 236000 for 1200 august! Ive put $1900 of maintenance work into it. pads and rotors, alternator, Muffler, sparks plugs, battery and Struts (4). It only gives me 21.7mpg that's about 350 miles per full tank to gas light coming on but Id rather this than a 500 car note plus $125 full coverage insurance. nice video!

I am thinking of getting 2005 Toyota Camry · XLE Sedan 4D with 240K miles as my first car. Is it good? Can anyone give me suggestions?
@Slim1423
@Slim1423 10 күн бұрын
240k is high mileage . Camry might last 300k to 500k miles, if previous owner took care of it. Gotta check it close for wear and tear. Lookup Blue book value for that car, based on what condition it is in, before you decide to buy. I see some Camrys online, the good looking ones sell higher, but the dogged out ones sell cheap. You got the right idea to get a Toyota Camry as your first vehicle! If you take care of it and keep the motor oil and transmission fluid changed at proper interval, it may last you for a very long time. Some say the 02-06 Camry were better built Camrys. I am seriously thing about getting a Camry myself, real soon!

@Slim1423
@Slim1423 9 күн бұрын
@@whitemouse9533 Go on the internet, and search the Kelley Bluebook value for that vehicle. It will ask additional questions about that car, and after you fill in the answers it will give you approx value for that car. Value of car will vary depending on condition of the car. To be honest, I have had bad luck when buying a car from a private owner, but unsure if this is your case. I prefer to either go to a car auction to buy a car "As Is" , or to buy a car from a car dealer that can give me some kind of warranty like 30 days or 1,000 miles that covers engine and transmission. At 240k miles mileage related repairs may come up if the car hasn't been properly maintained. A Toyota is considered high mileage once it goes over 200k miles.
