Great job. I replaced it. It was a big pain. Thank you. I got the code p2601 and i realized the cooling fan is not working. The estimate at the shop was $800~$1000. I just bought the part for $60 @eBay. I did it myself and took 4 hours with my hand tools.

Wasn't necessary for me to take all the stuff he did in the video btw. I got it out and back in under 2 hours with only disconnecting the upper coolant hose and the front support. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting the video. Definitely helped me decide to not grab a used one out of a salvage yard. Thought it would be a relatively easy pull and swap. I think I'm just going to get one from O'Reilly also at least it has a lifetime warranty. One of the things I might suggest would be if you thought you were going to clean the radiator or condenser or replace either of those two at the same time. It might be easier to simply remove the radiator and condenser and the fans together and then separate them away from the car. This would require of course evacuating the AC system and then recharging it. But my condenser is a bit beat up on the front anyway and I had thought about swapping it. So I might put this repair off until I'm prepared to do all of that at the same time. Maybe even throw a new radiator at it also.

Great video. I agree w/after mrkt parts! I bought a radiator for my 97 Camry & it leaked. If u buy local, easier to exchange or even FIT properly, so great advice. NEVER easy, but u made lemonade from lemons. I would have done the same thing cutting wires. Get a disposable lighter & keep in tool box for shrink wrap. Look for rachet-size wrench that have batteries. I got one for $80. I love ur channel BC u represent us regular dyi's. How did u know ur fans werent wrkn? Please let us know HOW/WHY u decided to fix/replace something. Thanks!👍

@Rice Burner, Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. The fans were making a grinding high pitch sound, That was the reason for the replacement, I lost footage I recorded to show the noise it was doing,. Thanks for watching! 👍

is it possible to remove and replace the radiator coolant overflow tank from the fan shroud?
@pete2481 Жыл бұрын
I have been asking myself the same question. The only thing I find when searching the internet for the coolant overflow tank for 2gen Prius is the whole fan assembly. Anyone has any idea if you can only get the overflow reservoir?

You could have gotten away without draining the fluid by going out the bottom I removed mine from the bottom without losing any fluid still not easy. But getting the air bubbles out of the coolant system is way more trouble
