2005 Triumph Tiger Slow Speed Running Problem

hi james when i work for triumph we set the tps to .6 most new triumph are set .58 to .62 so .6 in bang in the middle hope this helps, mark

have you checked the vacuum tube in the right side of the tank that goes to the computer under the back seat

The map on the bike appears to be stuck in open loop mode. Re-flash with the Triumph stock ECU map.

Seems to me like a bad memory cell, is there a diagnostic on the memory of the ECU? I am an electrocian not a mecanic, maybe my crazy ideas will spark something ?

Air flow servo, check supply pipes for leaks. They are made of crappy plastic and break and leak. Change the pipes.

What was the culprit in the end Jim? Re-flash the ecu? New ecu?

Definitely an electrical issue. Throttle closed position recalibrates when the bike is running, value might be getting saved but ECU is getting reset. Have you checked the wiring harness around the ECU for shorts of water damage in that area? More potato skins in the flux capacitor.

I KNOW I MIGHT BE A BIT LATE ON THIS BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ITS THE ECU IT SELF I KNOW IT ALL CHECKS OUT BUT ALL THE TEST UNITS IN THE WORLD ONLY CHECK FOR SET THINGS IT IS PROBABLY SOMETHING WAY OUT OF LEFT FIELD THAT THE UNITS CAN NOT PICK UP LIKE CORROSION ON THE CONNECTORS OR SOMETHING

Looks like a bad TPS, just have to clean it. I had a similar situation, even though voltemeter showed no problem.

a bad sensor or the ecu is bad.

Bike is 10 years old....more than likely electrical, change for another ECU.......test instruments are all very well but they suggest only and not necessarily show all problems. Sometimes you have to change the elements to fix this type of problem....the Closed Throttle Sensor...change it...etc

Smells like a bad capacitor in the ECU.
