I would like a V-Max , and always looking on ebay for one... at the right price , found one , looked in pristine condition , low miles , good description , including '' running rough , only needs carbs looking at '' , fortunately I do follow your channel , Thanks ...

I really enjoy watching these vlogs Jim, I sold my fully restored Honda CB450 K5 last December, it was temperamental on start up seems there was a knack to it, once running it was good. Occasionally it only ran on the left cylinder and it apparently got worse after I sold it. Never knew if the dealer or new owner got it sorted, but I still wonder about it.

Plus 1 for Keyster. If a politician in the UK would say "vote for me and Ill ban ethanol and give you decent fuel" they get my vote. Or move to the Isle of Man. Zero ethanol there. I use redex in every bike. Have had some superb results sorting a CBR1000FL with redex and also a Honda ride on mower. But this ethanol fuel is just damaging.... And particularly/especially older machines from the 1970's, 80's and 90's. The "rubber" came out of a Ducati 851 tank 1991 like black jelly. Great video, thoroughly enjoy the educational content. Id love to buy the range of Superbike Surgery Branded Carb Cleaning Chemicals...

No ethanol fuel in New Zealand!

@@munter10 just one more good reason (if needed) to visit NZ and ride a motorcycle....
@stuartmetcalfe5476 ай бұрын
@munter10 I'm told the reason for IOM no ethanol is that it attracts water and as the IOM doesn't produce its own fuel the fuel has to be transported across the sea, and hence it would absorb water...don't know if that's folklore or true. They used to have leaded fuel for some years after mainland UK stopped it too. My bikes always enjoyed that and ran better when I took them to the Island.

Pity about Tourmax, I`d heard too that it was OE parts repackaged, I had recommended Keyster to my mate for his Vmax at £88 as he was looking at cheap kits on the bay and that`s a total waste of time, he`s decided to move the bike on because he`s realised they`re a bit crap

What's the chemical bath that you use to dissolve the petrol initially once you strip the carbs (the stuff that changes colour if there's contaminants)?

On the subject of carb cleaning.. I watched an earlier post ware you pushed carb cleaner through the carbs while still fitted, would it be best to pen the drains on the float bowls first and is it cool to use this quick clean method on a 1999 cbr Fireblade. Kind regards.

Hi .. I have just watched the video on your amazing hot water cleaner/vapour blast cabinet. Is there any way I can purchase plans for this. I simply can't afford a commercial on and to be honest.. yours looks better with the addition of the hot water system. Thanks in advance KiwiSkipper NZ

It seems to me that the more diverse engineering Kawasaki do the same with carbs as they do with suspension , they specify better stuff from Kayaba , Keihin, Mikuni and Showa , as an example their carbs often have a separate midrange circuit . which invariably gave us problems when we raced modified standard ,where one had to use original carbs......but problems are there to overcome.....well they build jet fighters and 400km/h trains ...seems they know a thing or two...(we even had their licence built helicopters in the Swedish Air Force , those were head and shoulders above the two Boeing originals we firstly bought!!!)

I bought a 1200 bandit that was running rough, i have virtually zero mechanical engineering experience. The problem turned out to be rust in the petrol tank and the carburetors where blocked with extremely fine rust... Cleaned them out , put back together, balanced the carburettors....ran like a dream. Basic stuff really.

DO NOT spray WD-40 in the carburettor passageways and leave it. You MUST flush it out with carburettor cleaner. WD-40 dries and leaves a sticky residue that's really hard to remove. This will fuck up your carbs. How do I know? I used to be a manufacturing engineer for their contract filling lines. If we had a can burst due to a weak weld, it used to get all inside the machine pneumatic valves, dry and gum them up, rendering them useless.
