The adjustable windshield is the sweetest deal on the bike with little extra weight, I'm 71 years with a bad leg after hit by a drunk driver while riding a concours with metal rods from my foot to hip. I find the weight of the FJR manageable and it's an engineering marvel, handling ride wind protection most bang for the buck new or used. Extremely reliable, I've owned 35 bikes in 55 tears and the fjr is my favorite, it's not as heavy as the st or the concours, the ST weaves in cross winds

Let's be blunt. Its hard to knock a Honda. O only rode a ST a few times. It was just sort of clunking feeling in the steering and handling. Im sure its a user thing. The saddle didn't work for my hips and the Honda Goldwing is impossible for me to ride as it causes my hip to pop/hurt. ST the same and there are other bikes I have this issue with. There are a lot of videos reviews of big sport touring bikes. They are opinions so you have to weed through that. But, you will almost always find an FJR1300 at the very top of the list. Not so with the ST. Maybe because they are not made anymore. But, let me be clear. I don't think you could go wrong with an ST and I think you can find a bargain on a ST at a better price point than an FJR. That said, if you go FJR, you will have the cream of the crop with options and aftermarket support thats so far beyond an ST.

1300cc Sports Touring bike is heavy. That's not news. They all are.........this is not always a bad thing. Weight can give a more stable ride on less than perfectly surfaced road, leading to more comfort, which means less tiring for long distance.....voila! Nobody ever reviews a full on sports bike and says "Yeah its OK, but it doesn't have hard panniers and a top box" FJR's aren't supposed to be lightweights. They're built for crossing continents at speed, in comfort, two up, loaded with luggage, and for that they're one of the best bikes out there.

Thank you for your FJR Gen 1 review. I have a 2012 & use my windshield lift & lower a lot, I do however prefer to ride with my visor up. Suspension is very adjustable. I go between my FJR & 2000 Busa routinely. My Busa is lightened and has a number of mods, engine, suspension (stock swingarm). It's quite quick & a ton of fun, but my FJR is my big miles ride. It is way more stable on the freeway than my Busa, yet still corners very well and has lots of power. FJR very utilitarian, a 148 hp grocery getter. Busa most fun, FJR best all rounder. Been riding since 1966, had many bikes. If I had to choose just one, FJR would be top of the list. *At first I did find my FJR a little top heavy, magnified with passenger..... not anymore. The Kawasaki Concours looks pretty sporty but I believe it's heavier and known for poor handling. I've owned 2 FJR's. My current one is a 2015 and has been going strong since I bought it new. The electric windscreen is absolutely necessary as this is a touring bike. I ride mine in the city and on highways and have no complaints, other than it does sit a little high for me. You seem to think everyone that critiques your critique has “emotional attachment”. I’ve been riding 32 years. I’ve only had my FJR 2 years. Some of the criticisms you seem to have are not design related but due to poor maintenance that affects any bike. “Sticky throttle, faded kill switch”. The ST1100 was a great bike. My buddy owned one. I never noticed a significant weight difference btwn the bags? My garage also contains my CBR1100 as well as my ZRX1200. I love those as much as my FJR. The purchase of a motorbike is not practical, it IS in large part a visceral experience. I grew up on YZF’s, Ninja’s ., VFR’s., and FZR’s. Curious why you praise the ST., which is more touring oriented than the FJR., but criticize the FJR for not being sporty enough., then tell others they are too emotionally invested in their bike? Are you a current or former ST owner?

But I have that issue with most bikes. In my FJR group several women ride this bike. They manage it as well. Sure! Mention it’s top heavy. But to be truly objective also mention that weight all but vanishes on the roadway. And roadway performance is primarily why we by sport tourers., not necessarily parking lot speeds. Again. I come from a varied sport bike background. This bike handles very well despite the weight issue. I’m not a moto vlogger so I don’t have any vids., but I implore you to check the vids I mentioned in my prior comment. You might be surprised at its true capabilities.

650 pounds is not extremely heavy. My Kawasaki vaquero weighs about 880. It feels a bit heavy at standstill.

This bike is not heavy lol. You get stating heavy but you have a ST1300.. It's a damn good bike. My bmw k1200 is a big bike

Heavy maybe you should go to the gym or something, far better looking than the st1300 and lighter. How many times do you need to say you think a bike is Heavy? Suggest you stick to maybe a Honda super dream or similar.

I’m currently debating on trading in my Honda VTX for either a 2010 ST1300 or a 2005 FJR1300. How is cost to own, each if you don’t mind? Just normal preventative maintenance? The 2010 ST1300 is going for almost 6k and the yamaha is going for 3.5k. The Yamaha needs fairings and is a bit more beat up than the honda. The Honda seems like a no brained due to having o my 17k miles and it’s newer. I’m doing the research. I don’t want to be Trading or selling bikes that often.

I currently have a 2006 ST1300 I bought used in 2013 w/ 11489 mi. Honda recommends oil changes every 5000 mi. or yearly. I change mine at least twice a year & it has impressed me. The used oil still looks clean. I currently have 23448 mi. on it now. Not one single issue. It is a blast when you get on it, I do ride conservatively most of the time. I do own 2 bikes, so I get to mix it up. My other bike is a 2002 Suzuki Volusia I bought new. I am not considering getting rid of the ST1300. I hope this will help you.

I like the st1300 a bit more. The tank is lower, engine is weirdly cool and smooth. It weighs more but feels like it weights less than the fjr1300. Both are great bikes. The st1300 also resells for higher and holds its value better. The early st1300 has high speed wobbles, get a later version if riding above 100mph isnt your thing.

If you don't want a heavy motorcycle, buy a 250cc

Im not brand loyal to any bike. I prefer the yamahas I have had. One of my favorite bikes is the Super Tenere 1200. But there are more hondas for sale and i usually get inexpensive bikes to ride.

Mate if you want a heavy bike ride a triumph rocket 3, as I own one and a 05 fjr1300 and the fjr1300 is not heavy compared to the rocket3 and my 1500cc goldwing so I feel you gave the poor fjr1300 a bad review, mabye get a moped so its lighter for you 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@VehicleHunter4 жыл бұрын
I've had over 40 bikes and even had a few mopeds. But facts are facts, it is a very heavy feeling bike. Sorry it hurt your feelings.
@gordononeil32484 жыл бұрын
@@VehicleHunter you never hurt my feelings as I found your vide very amusing had a good laugh actually, like I said compared to a triumph rocket 3 or a goldwing the fjr1300 is not heavy at all and very nimble and easy to ride, even woman like them so I don't know why you had a cry about the weight atleast 4 times in your video, so hope my facts don't hurt your feelings 🤣🤣🤣🤣
