2006 - 2008 Hyundai Sonata Headlight/Lamp replacement

Thanks for the great video. As you mentioned below, I didn't need to remove the headlight assembly to replace the bulb. I just unscrewed the bulb cover, disconnected the electrical, and pushed down on the keeper pin - no need to unscrew it. It's sticking out on the right and looks a bit like one end of a paper clip. I took a picture of it with my phone so I could get a better idea of how it worked, but I don't see a way to post it here. Then the keeper pin can be swung out of the way so the bulb can be removed.

I have a 2008 and you don't have to pull the entire assembly out like that. You can unscrew the cap by just opening the hood and reaching behind the light assembly. All you have to do is unplug the power wire to the assembly and you can replace the bulbs without removing it.

Removing the entire assembly is definitely the way to go. The turn indicator is impossible otherwise so this is good practice.

No tools necessary. Specific instructions: Open hood, locate the low beam headlight (Left: to the left of the Windshield fluid, Right: to the right of the battery), unhook the power cable, less than a quarter turn on the headlight cover to remove it, unplug the connector from the bulb, push in on the single end of the wire lock to disengage it, then replace the bulb! Close it up, don't waste time with tools or taking out the entire light fixture: it will only make things frustrating!

you didnt mention keeper pin holding in bulb and where bolts were to take assembly out. other than that perfect!!

Carl Johnson , I couldn't film the keeper pin, I only have 2 hands lol. you can replace the bulb without taking assembly out, did it this way in case somebody wanted to swap headlights

I have a 2006 and all i have to do is open the bulb housing from behind the assembly. Just 2 screws holding them in. Not sure if any other models are like this.

sarah bowling it's not necessary to remove the entire headlight assembly so you should be able to change the bulb without needing to remove the screws. just follow how directions on the part of changing the bulb and remember to never touch the glass part of the light bulb

This does not work on our Sonata. The configuration of the headlamp is not like you are showing here. Ours is a 2006 although we have been told that it may have been a year ender model.

@@NWCI I’m talking about ultra-thin poly gloves you can feel everything through. The point is to not touch the glass at all. The oil from one’s fingers is enough to greatly reduce bulb life.
