2006-2010 Ford Fusion ABS Pump Failure

In this video I outline the basics of how to replace the ABS pump once you have identified it has failed!
This can be done one of two ways:
You have already hit something due to the brakes failing (joking but kind of serious).
Scanning the car with a full function OBD2 scanner and it displays that it has lost communication or detected a hot function error.

Hi, took my 2010 Ford fusion with the same issue to the Ford dealer they said there is no recall on this. Can you tell me what is the recall details please on the ABS module call brake booster or master cylinder they want us to me to replace and charge $4000.

It was a TSB Ford put out. I will dig up the TSB number if I can find it.

How can you the difference between the ABS Module issue and a typical weak master cylinder?

I was able to test with a scan tool. I selected the ABS pump bleed "hot function" and this one continuously failed.

did you have to reprogram the ABS module or did you just replace the pump portion??

Had to do the ABS Module relearn hot function. I did this with my Autel Maxisys Elite

What are the classic symptoms the Fusion exhibit that confirms it's the ABS module?

The brakes completely fail or go onto "ice mode". Essentially you hit the brakes but nothing really happens.

go to the ford website and type in your VIN, there is a list of "recalls" and then a list of what they call "Customer Satisfaction Programs." Ford really fucked people on this as they never notified anyone about it as it wasnt a "recall" so you basically have 15 years to get it fixed. I just found out about this and my car is out of the 15 years so they told me to go pound sand.

I have a 2011 fusion and i have no fliud coming from the lines. Replaces the master cylinder and still no fluid and pressure out the lines... would this be an ABS issue?

2010 new master cylinder. Electronically bled still no pedal pressure. Anyone find out the issue?

🎉abs pump sounds to be running., but not pumpy up pedal when electronically bleeding Usually you depress the brake pedal and the computer will build pressure and the pedal comes up off the floor...

I just found out about this and my car is out of the 15 years so they told me to go pound sand. you're car should qualify but you have to use the secret phrase "Customer Satisfaction program" and mention the "Hydraulic control unit one-time repair"

It was a TSB that should have been a full blown recall. I don't know how many Fusions I bought at the auction that had front end damage due to this problem.
