I just bought a set of rotors and pads for the front and rear of my 2006 Chevy malibu SS and doing the front shocks and rear struts. 69k original miles and here in Tampa rust is not a big problem.

It's a fairly easy repair. We like to go into detail and let you guys know what you might run into an how to get out of it.

I'm planning on doing the repair on my 2006 model. I've never done the rear wheels or have experience within cars on a professional level. My question is are the rear brake pads larger than the front?
@HomeownerRepair2 жыл бұрын
I don't think that they are but I haven't compared them either.
@Bryn_Raschaul2 жыл бұрын
@@HomeownerRepair it’s fine. I compared them a while back. Already fixed the brakes. Thanks though.

What did he spray on he rotor before installing?
@sprngxo Жыл бұрын
Probably brake parts cleaner. New rotors come with oils to keep them from rusting during transfer. The cleaner rids the oil so doesn’t interfere with them doing there job
@HomeownerRepair Жыл бұрын
It was brake cleaner to get the protective oil off that they use during shipping. Here is a link to it: amzn.to/3t3sMH8

If Don’t mind me asking. Why is every video fixing brakes in this same pattern No One Bleads the Breaks so there’s no air on the break line? Do you not have to win fixing brakes like this?? Sorry I jus started learning how to change breaks by myself, and usually whenever I always did it with a friend they would have me pump the brake pedal while they bled the brake line after they put new brakes on. Because they always took the caliper off the brake line, and this is the second video I’ve seen to where they haven’t removed the caliper from the brake line. Do you not have to remove the brake line do not have to remove air? Thank you. My vehicle is a 2012 Chevy Malibu LT 2.4 L. Thank you very much.🙏🏻

When you are finished replacing the brakes you should pump the brake pedal a few times until it is hard to press before starting the vehicle to get the brakes back. If the pedal doesn't feel firm after doing this then you may need to bleed the brakes. Hope this helps out.
@randycollens2681 Жыл бұрын
No, you don’t have to disconnect the brake line. That’s only for replacing the caliper or repairs to the brake line.
@juanitos00675 ай бұрын
If you don’t disconnect the caliper you don’t need to bleed the break line? I’m confused lol! Your videos are very informative very easy to follow
@mojojojo34114 ай бұрын
@@juanitos0067yeah, it sounds like they're saying you only need to bleed the brake lines if you disconnect the caliper. Idk what bleeding the brake line is, but they didn't do it in this video. So if you followed this vid exactly you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Most times I don’t bother with those replacement hardware that comes with the new pads. I reuse the old ones They can be a pain!

too much grease grease atracts dirt grime small little rocks like sand. no need to grease up caliper pistons !
@HomeownerRepair2 жыл бұрын
We have never had a problem doing this and it will help to eliminate squeaking noises coming from the brake pads. If you just put a little on you should be fine, yeah you don't want to glob it on them.
