You are pretty knowledgeable on this, so I have a question. Can my security system cause my battery to go dead? I have a drain somewhere. I have a key fob with a dead battery, my battery is drained, i can't start my car without a jump. when i first bought my battery it died within 3 days. I also have the car with the lock light on, on my dash. Thanks.

If you have an anti-theft light on your dash which is a yellow icon, that means you have an anti-theft problem normally resetting the battery for at least 24 hours. Usually does to Trek. I had to do mine three times to get my auntie left light to go out and my problems fixed if your car is completely off and all your lights and the only light that shows up on your dash constantly is your anti-theft light. It can cause the battery to die. Just depends on how long it's being left on or you have a drain somewhere. Also, if the battery in your key fob is completely dead, your car lock buttons and your anti-theft alarm will not function properly or may not work at all. Sometimes the hhrs will not allow you to use the key to unlock the door if there's an anti-theft problem. I went through that situation as well. Be sure you put a brand new battery in your key fob. Make sure your battery is good

Outsolved anti-theft issue. Make sure all your doors are unlocked. Hit it three times. Disconnect your battery for at least 24 hours then connect the battery back up. Let it sit for a few minutes. See if the auntie left light goes out. If it does not do the same situation all over again at least two or three more times and it usually helps the situation cuz it did with me.

I have a no start situation with my HHR, but I believe it's due to the security light. I can't start it to drive it period. Do you think this will fix that issue so that the car will actually start? I've put a new starter on it already and still does nothing

If your doors are unlocked and you have the key fob and you hit the auto start button with one door open, the anti-theft light can steady blink and you must disable it by hitting the unlock button once or twice and it will disable it. If you do not, the horn will go off while the car is actually running because I think you're trying to steal the vehicle even though it's yours. Now if your doors are closed and locked and you hit the unlock button twice, there will be no indication of any empty theft light. Now if you're having an anti-theft issue when you open your doors with your key fob and you crank the car in the light is steady orange while driving. This could cause acceleration issues and cause your gauges to go haywire reset. The computer normally helps. It did win mine

Now if you don't have the key fob, you should be able to lock your doors with the key only. If you're into the flashlight is blinking, you can automatically disable it before the horn goes off by hitting the unlock button on the door once or twice or three times and it should disable it. I did it both ways and it works fine
