My mom had an 04 as my childhood car. It got us everywhere. I remember it having Transmission problems and that being what ultimately killed it. But she got 9 years and almost 190k miles out of it.

4:44 I’m glad GM did keep the same radio for many of their vehicles. It’s a pretty good radio and has lots of radio station slots. It’s also very simple as well. Only problem is the clock sometimes gets out of wack (maybe it’s just my vehicle which is an 07 Tahoe).

I had this Monte Carlo for about 4 years. Water pump was the only issue. Well, and the incredibly inconvenient large doors that bruised my shins on more than one occasion. She was speedy and smooth, especially on the highway. Solid car.

My mom and dad bought a 2007 Monte Carlo LS (Victory Red) brand new. My grandpa bought a 2000 Monte Carlo LS (Dark Carmine Red Metallic) brand new and a 1976 Monte Carlo Landau (Firethorn Metallic with a white 1/2 vinyl top) in 1978. Grandpa gave me his '76 when I graduated high school in 2000. Twenty-two years later, I still have her and I just bought his 2000 from him.

My grandmother bought an 07 Monte Carlo SS brand new right when they announced they were ending production of the Monte Carlo. It was red over black leather interior. She used it explicitly for trips to church and the occasional grocery run. She wouldn't drive it in the rain, never drove it in the snow/salt/winter, and it was always garaged, and she had it detailed and waxed every month... She traded it in ~2.5 years ago on a fully loaded top trim Ford Escape, it only had ~28k miles if I'm remembering correctly. Even though it had very minimal usage and mileage... it did not age well. The doors kinda sagged and you had to close them with more force than you'd expect or they wouldn't latch. The dash/interior creaked constantly, the dash was *just* starting to crack on the passenger side, and it went to the dealer numerous times over the years for random electrical issues (I remember the power windows and some random engine sensors kept going bad).

I'm surprised that the gears for the transmission of the Monte Carlo aren't labeled or shown, oh wait, nvm, the gears for the transmission can be seen by just looking at the gauge cluster.

These things were all over the place from the mid 200s to about 2013. The only one's I've seen lately are few and far between. Typically they are beaten up pretty bad and are usually found in poor neighborhoods.

I owned the 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo LS, it looked a lot like the 1996 Chevy Lumina 4D! It had a short in the electrical system, had to trade it in! It drove smooth and handle winter in Western Pa well, with the right tires of course!

They tried to get the old school (80's) look with the back end of the car. The biggest downfall with this car is that they made it fwd. Idk what GM was thinking but they absolutely KILLED the 6th gen Monte Carlo potential by making it fwd.

@@tramainesmith6067 It does. I've seen them put a turbo on the Ls4 it was sick. Stock for stock the 06 blows the 80s MC SS out the park. It aint no Hellcat and so long donuts but she's special in her own right plus looks good. If it was RWD this car would be too good
@tramainesmith6067
@tramainesmith6067 2 жыл бұрын
@@Somanybeats Of course stock for stock it'll a 6th gen MC would beat an 80s MC. I mean, you can pretty much say that about any newer model car vs their older 80s versions. Now, let the drivers (06 MC vs 80s MC) go put a serious build on their cars, and the Gbody would, literally (and I mean LITERALLY), toy with the 6th gen. There are built 80s MC SSs out there that'll toy with hellcats. You're right in that if they made the 6th gens rwd they would be awesome. Imagine, there would've been guys dropping, beefed up 5.3s, 6.0s, 6.2s, LSXs, LSAs, ect in them, and be daring hellcats to try them. Like I said earlier, GM killed the potential of the 6th gen MCs by making them fwd. Yeah, they're still some pretty good cars, but what they are barely scratches the surface of what their potential could've been.

This was the last version of the Monte Carlo. In my opinion it is a significant improvement over the 2000-05 version which looked similar but had hideous headlights and grill and a more droopy shape. I owned one of those and as time went by I liked it less and less.

An 06-07 SS Monte with the V8 would definitely be worthing giving the Monte Carlo another shot, also if you happen to come across a LTZ Monte Carlo, IDK if it would warrant another review, but its the "Luxury" trim Monte Carlo that was just below the SS which gave you everything the SS got but the V8, but it does have the 3.9L V6 which is definitely be a better motor for Monte Carlo, Id say it would worth looking check out if you happen to come across one. GM probably should have made the 3.9 the standard for the Monte Carlo and spent a little more on improving the handling and braking, and then just raise the base price a little bit more to offset that. I don't know if they really could have made the Monte Carlo into a "performance car" even at the SS trim, but if they had done just a little more to distinguish it from the Impala and made it into a "Personal Luxury GT" car it would have gave it more of an identity and maybe it could have survived for a few more models years, and maybe could have sold a few more cars and stole a few Mustang sales away from Ford before they got the Camaro back in 2010.

Comparing acceleration with the Outback LL. Bean H6, you were more surprised with this car and on paper they have pretty much same numbers if not a bit more on the Outback. Plus. the Outback been older and 3.0 it has pretty much same power and torque as this 3.5.

Not bad looking cars, but the Monte Carlo kind of died when they made it front-wheel-drive and made it a Lumina coupe or a long Impala coupe. I like the creases in the back and the taillights. The '06 Impala headlights look good but the pre-facelift versions had different headlights that were distinct from the Impala. This generation is actually based on the 8th gen Impala from 2000 and GM put the 9th gen stuff in for the facelift.

I have a 1995 Monte Carlo, based on the Lumina. One big help with getting in the back seat, is to remove the sestbelt from the headrest loop, and that makes a big difference. I'm 5'7", and sitting in the back behind my seat is not bad, once you're back there. I'm glad mine is FWD, because living in Michigan, I would never buy a RWD car.

I love the final Monte up until 2005. Not only are the newer engines seemingly less reliable, it seems like overall quality slipped. The worst part of the refresh for my personal taste is the front end. Why make it look exactly like the already bland Impala? The model-specific crest on the nose of the 2000-2005s was cool. This was truly the last of the old school big coupes. I'm going to try to buy a bright yellow 2002 very soon, if I can grab it before someone else does.

I had a 2007 impala for almost seven years and it was the biggest pile of garbage I’ve ever owned. The valve cover gaskets fail and cost a fortune to replace, the heat door actuators for the vent controls go bad almost immediately and you pretty much need to take the dash apart to fix. I love W body’s, I’ve wanted a Pontiac grandprix since I was in high school and a busy had a Regal GS of the day. But these 3500/3900 powered vehicles are to be avoided. They’re terrible, absolutely terrible. I loved the remote start, and being able to change the temperature of the hvac controls, for about a year. Then everything broke. Please don’t buy one of these vehicles. Anything with a 3800 is worth a look, avoid all other gym V6’s.
