Mate, if I lived over the water id be making a bee line for you.....you seem a great open and honest kinda guy, and into the same things. Noticed you have a couple of TT's knocking about, I have a Lotus Exige tucked away, I should get it out and share it with you all Im thinking. Im 48 now and still feel great (at the moment) changed my diet a few years ago cut out the animal proteins and fats, remained active enjoying what I love doing cycling mainly. I also found cold water therapy this year, I now generally go for a dip before the day begins and catch Sunrise. It's never been so important to be mindful of all what we have and look after ourselves and each other, especially in such crazy times we now live. I hope you are on track with the weight and enjoying feeling better for it. All the very best matey.

You can always tell a good mechanic by how smooth he works and how easy he or she makes it look and John has both of these qualities I have always loved that pinch bolt & that entire set up also . as for the bar tape , it's a period thing found more in the mid to late 90s and worked well with two tone bicycles of the same colors , personally after trying it once I never tried it again . Thanks Mark Battista

It’s quite possibly a 2006. Few people realize that you can still have a Super Corsa custom built for you by Cinelli and this has been possible since the early 80’s I believe so the time range of those frames is huge. The groupset places it in the 90’s however. I’d leave the bar tape, it’s original and still looks good 👍🏼 All the best with the weight loss, keep focused on the end goal 👊🏼

I agree! I figure that "splash" tape was so hated that it will be like the Edsel... it'll almost entirely end up in the landfill. The few remaining examples will become valuable! ..and if I'm wrong, it'll be easy to replace it with something better (i.e. almost anything). :-)

Black bar tape with black Regal saddle with be my preference ( never liked the look of the Rolls - but that's me ). Somewhat dated Chorus grouppo looks fine on the Cinelli Super Corsa . As usual I enjoyed the video . [ Regarding your recent medical event - I've heard doctors at NYU's Langone Medical Center say patients who are most knowledgeable about their diagnosis generally have the best outcomes. About 15 years ago studies demonstrated that unless you are actually having a myocardial infarct (heart attack) baloon angioplasty wasn't necessary - patients do as well or better on Rx (prescription meds ) without surgical intervention. Extra weight is a stress on the heart ; male belly fat secretes harmful hormones and greatly increases mortality with SARS CoV - 2 . I find you to be a humble and smart guy you do the research.]

John, in your humble opinion, what is the more comfortable (bumps,etc) ride, Reynolds 531 or Columbus sl/slx. I've test rode 2 Colnago supers, hated both of them, instant neck pain, whereas my Raleigh international/pro and paramount are a joy to ride. Now there's a gorgeous 61cm cinelli super corsa repaint on ebay, my size. Anyway, can't find any vs opinions on bike forums, what's your take? Different strokes for different folks...DOUGH!😩
@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage Жыл бұрын
Hi. Honestly I think you are comparing apples and oranges. What you're feeling in my opinion is a difference in geometry v/s tubing sets. Most Colnagos have more of a Crit geometry with steeper head angles and shorter wheelbase and such. Plus the Colnago does not as much rake in the fork compared to the Raleigh International. BTW those internationals were built specifically for comfort. Smaller tubed chain stays etc. I found in General that the more comfortably spec'd frames were mostly Reynolds and more racing frames were spec'd with Columbus. But of course there are exceptions. Many! Check out the head angles and wheelbase on that Cinelli and that will tell you more about how its going to ride more than the tubing that was selected for the frameset. Hopefully that was helpful.

Hmmmm….. quill stem/threaded headset on a 2006 generally I’d say “I don’t think so”. However, a year or so ago Willier brought out the Superleggera, with a quill stem and a threaded stem, but it has a modern drivetrain . On the Cinelli, I’d go by the s/n and logic…. why put early 90s 8sp on a modern frame?
@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. According to the Cinelli Facebook group and what I read online it is a 2006. It is equipped the way it is because that is how it came. I have to decide whether or not I want to purchase and install a similar dated group set. Tough call. And possibly an expensive one
@shoff5353 жыл бұрын
@@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage Hi John, sorry I wasn’t clear. I was speculating that it might in fact be earlier than 2006 bc of the groupset on it. However I can see that if it is a 2006 frame set (as your research shows) then the previous owner set it up to look like a classic 80s/90s bike. Regardless, it’s a wonderful and pristine bike! And I wouldn’t hesitate giving my left kidney for it 😀👍
