I can’t thank you enough! The camshaft seal was cracked in mine. I noticed oil on the reservoir and all over the hoses near it. I just ordered the part. I had already replaced the valve cover and should have replaced that part at the same time.

Joe! Thank you! These exact two things were blown out; the same cam seal and crankcase ventilation valve! Thanks for the tip. I'm waiting on the seal now. I guess you just push the seal in? I don't see the old seal, there is nothings there, like it just blew it out or sucked it in--hopefully not cause I opted to just replace diaphragm, spring, and cap so I'm not disassembling. I looked in the cam hole with my inspection camera and I don't see the old seal.

Thank you so much for your advice. After hearing what you said I replaced the valve cover and the plug on the side of the motor. Greatly solved my vacuum problem of course which was a huge step in the right direction. Sadly, my car also had two bad coils (misfire 4 and 5 codes) and a bad mass air flow sensor (actually IAT code) which caused me a bunch of other grief. Curiously, now I have run into a weird situation where I get a crank but no start condition when fuel level is around a quarter tank. Only way out of the problem is to put the car in wide open throttle mode. Obviously I can just keep the tank full or go WOT when around a quarter tank but curious if you have seen this issue and what might actually resolve it rather then a work around. Again I really appreciate you taking the time to add this video.

Interestingly enough, my vacuum leak stopped after I reseated the PCV valve cover/diaphragm (that I had previously replaced) that was not fully clipped in. AND after I took the vacuum hose off the valve intake cover like in your video, and plugged it with my thumb. I could feel good suction and it started running more smoothly. Then, replacing the hose. It seemed to be fine again almost like the leak was causing the vacuum to not pump up to full pressure. After that maybe it fully engaged the PCV diaphragm again and crated a better seal. That’s my only thought. PCV came loose again maybe after I hit a bump or it was never seated proper after I replaced it (preemptively) and finally didn’t seal properly. Whatever the case. Thanks for the idea to test the vacuum with your finger. Fixed the engine somehow.

Hello again, I have a question for you. My 2005 2.5 jetta is blowing a little smoke from under the intake manifold driver side. No oil leaks anywhere that I can see. It did have the valve cover leaking but that was fixed last month and engine cleaned. I took it to a friend who noticed the smoke and said it smells like fumes not burned oil, coolant or gas. He pulled the oil dipstick out and the smoke under the manifold stopped and it started out the dipstick. He told me the pcv was bad. Could that really be the PCV blowing smoke out the oil dipstick? can you tell me where you think it may be blowing from under the intake? is there something else I should look for? Car runs perfect, no codes no over heating, no oil in coolant no coolant in oil. no oil loss, no coolant loss, no tail smoking, no nothing, really sound and great running car except that fume leak that gets in my car cabin and it driving me nuts. Thank you very much your help I greatly appreciate it.

Glad helped you out. It would be impossible for me to tell you what else is wrong unfortunately. If you have a noise, it could be a pulley or something else. The symptom you are describing can be caused by different things. It is impossible to make a diagnosis without having the vehicle to test. It could be a transmission issue, or an engine performance issue.

Joe's Auto Electric I went to a transmission shop and they ran the test and it doesn’t appear to have any code the transmission at all they told me the only code that the car has is the leak in air intake sys (08825 ) is the code
@JoesAutoElectric
@JoesAutoElectric 6 жыл бұрын
If the car has a leak in the intake system, this means it is pulling air from someplace other than the throttle body. In other words, this will effect fuel trims and make the car run poorly. Fix the air leak first. The best method of finding it if it is not obvious with visual inspection is the use a smoke machine. Many shops have them. You need to bring it to a place that knows how to test the vehicle.

+Will Brown Sorry for the late response, I have been very busy. It is difficult to answer your question because there can be many things causing this problem. First thing I'd want to know is if the check engine light is on. I would also scan test for any codes just in case something is pending. Check for vacuum leaks, and look at data stream to see what is going on .Of course, this is if you haven't repaired it yet.
