Long term review (500 days of ownership) of my 2006 Toyota Hilux Workmate. I go through what the car is like to own, drive and maintain.

Hi Alf, I have been watching you on Home and Away for years. You are a fantastic actor. I like that you are branching out into car videos.

Mine has about 235,000 Kim to date. Still doing it’s job. Just installed a new stereo unit so I have Bluetooth. Will have a video on that soon. I take this Ute everywhere with confidence that it will get me there. Glad you have had the same experience.

Just picked up a 2011 Hilux 2.7L Petrol today. Just turned 105,000km and drives well. It's a manual and not too sure how much life the clutch as left on it, doesn't have a tachometer so hard to judge the revs. Hope you are still enjoying yours.

Clutch should be fine. Mine currently has 275000 kilometers on the clock and is still on the original clutch.

Hey mate, I’ve got a 2006 workmate exactly like yours, I was wondering if there are any modifications you would do to your workmate, I want to look at getting a nice bullbar I’ve already got some spotties 👍

I have updated the radio so I have apple car play. I want to get a reverse camera. I was tempted to get a nudge bar and add some led driving lights. I would like to update the seats to something more comfortable (currently have a gel back rest for better lumbar support.

@@RoadsOfOz sounds awesome mate, if you did buy a nudge bar, where abouts would you buy it

Me cousin had a 2006 workmate. 2.7 I think. It had 450,000kms and he sold it for $8,000

They are getting silly money. Saying that, I take mine everywhere with 100% confidence of getting there and back.

How bad is the fuel economy I heard the petrol ones are thirsty
@RoadsOfOz2 жыл бұрын
Anywhere from 11-13litres per 100 kilometres

I’ve got a 2021 auto model and it drinks fuel like there’s no tomorrow. Very disappointing.
@RoadsOfOz2 жыл бұрын
@@neilcox7879 They really need a more fuel efficient motor. The 2.7l has been around since the mid 90's. Still seeing it in new utes is very poor form from Toyota. I know they are still in production due to how bullet proof they are meant to be.
@konival9753 Жыл бұрын
the lack of fuel economy i the petrol is recuperated by that fact they're cheaper to maintain compared to the diesel. they're easy as piss to keep running for 500km +
@levro7367 Жыл бұрын
@@konival9753 this is true also isn't as bad when 91 isn't at $2 a litre
