I searched car forums and videos when my spark plugs needed to be changed and everyone said it would take 7-8 hrs to do but because I have strong hands that are slim ( I am a woman) I didn't need to remove the plenum and was able to maneuver my hands in to do the job in 5.5 hrs, mind you with some swearing and frustration, but I did it!! I'd never done something like this before and was pretty proud to save myself the cost in labour by my mechanic. Now two years later one of my coils has died and I'm thinking rather than have the mechanic do it I might tackle it myself again as it looks pretty straight forward. I'm no car expert but the design of the Sienna engine seems like a money grab as who would ever think it would take 7 hrs to change your spark plugs!! Thanks for the video, wish me luck !

hi@@shensuohao, yes I did! After finding an image as to the numbering of the coils I got lucky and it was one that was in the front row on top and easily accessible; took me like 5 minutes. Job done and the van runs great now, all codes cleared. Thanks for asking.

I was able to replace the left side one and middle , with just removing the cowl and the pcv elbow on the left side . Hurts your hands , and is a bit tedious , but I doubt as tedious as removing those bracket bolts . The ideal extension length needed is around 31/2 to 4 , and a ratcheting 10mm wrench will save you a ton of time ( didn't have one ) gonna try to remove the right side in a few days when I get a ratcheting 10mm , pretty sure you can reach under the throttle body .

They do it on purpose, so you have to go to the dealers for the fix up.

Well done for getting that sorted out and sharing your experience. They certainly pack everything in tight there. Looks like you worked the night shift

The manifold part is vague. Where are the bolts to remove?

Where there any crazy vacuum hoses on the back of that manifold? Or was it just bolts holding it on. Did a tune up on a Nissan Xterra, was a nightmare of small hoses and clamps holding the manifold in place.

II changed my spark plugs for my 2007 Toyota Sienna at 270,000 miles. Then the ignition coils went 7,000 miles later. Do you think this was just a coincidence? Why didn't the Toyota dealer replace the coils at the same time he did the plugs??

The part alone is like 80 after taxes...my local Carx quoted me 125 total to replace it...lol...

How did you disconnect the plug from the ignition coils??
@motoforlyfe
@motoforlyfe 6 жыл бұрын
It has been a very long time since I did this but if I remember correctly, it was a standard electrical connector with a little tab you either have to lift up or push down on to undo.

Whoever had the bright idea to mount a V6 engine transversely in a front drive car was a lunatic. Even pro mechanics hate working on them.

Yeah, even in a shop they'd still have to do it the same way. I was wondering how you would pull the motor in one of these, guess you'd have to drop it out the bottom?

I should do the plugs on my ranger, after I did this van I looked at the truck to see how easy it was

UnitCrane514 planned obsolescence...and they want people to go to the dealer more often... this practice started with the introduction of obd2... exclusively pre obd2 vehicles for me... no computer garbage

Remember that this is not an item that is regularly serviced. Honestly you only need to replace the plugs every 100,000 miles(mine still looked great at 100,000 miles and could have gone longer) and the coils only need to be replaced when they fail. That could be the lifetime of the car, though you might want to do it at the 200,000 mile mark if you're planning on keeping it until it dies. This means you're only going to do this twice, maybe thrice, over the life of the car, which really isn't bad. This is just the downside of the transverse engine. I'll take removing a few bolts to a poorly-setup chassis to make changing the spark plugs easier. Ever worked on an F-body? This is a cakewalk to that.

The video title says it's 2006 but I'm sure it's 2007 -2010 with engine code 2GR-FE 3.5

That's Totally Insane to design stuff in such a manner that you've got to be Japanese, and have Polio to replace simple parts.. What were they Drinking??!!!

It's true, but to get rid of a car with 80,000 miles because a coil failed? That's crazy!

This is a very dependable and serviceable car. Exterior styling is probably one of the best minivans imo. Interior... Standard Toyota.. Functional but not so comfortable
