2006 Triumph Speed Triple Maintenance - Shift Lever Adjustment - Maintenance Log # 18

A recent up-grade in riding boots caused several miss shifts. I discovered free play in the shifter but it wasn't bad enough to warrant a bushing or bolt change. I'll try an adjustment for now.

Do yourself a favor and get the shift change assembly from a Daytona 955i. It mounts directly to the shifter shaft and completely eliminates all those ball joints and the slop associated with them. It looks completely stock and is how Triumph should have shipped the Speed Triple from the factory. They're a bit pricey at around $100, but it's some of the best money I've spent on my own '06 Speed. The part number T2080924 .

@@TriumphSpeedTripleMaintenance No problem. If you want to spend a bit less, you can apparently use the shift lever from a Yamaha WR80, but I've never tried it. Since it's meant for a dirt bike, the toe knob is knurled aluminum. I imagine that would tear up a street boot pretty quickly.

@@TriumphSpeedTripleMaintenance Figuring out which parts will fit is part of the fun of owning any bike! Oh, here's another one: if you ever need to replace the fuel filter, you can get one from NAPA Auto for way less than one marketed for a motorcycle. Part # is FIL 3032 Good luck!
