Apple has gone from PowerPC to Intel and now Apple Silicon, so how has the 2006 white Core 2 Duo iMac aged?? Is it still a decent machine? You might be surprised at what a 15 year old machine can do!

I have an early 2006 20" white iMac, upgraded 500GB disk, 2x512MB RAM. I am not able to use CMD+R to do a factory reset. Can you tell me how to do the factory reset manually?

Yeah its Socket M if i'm remembering correctly, the fastest CPU officially supported is the Core 2 Duo T7600, 2 cores @ 2.33 GHz. You can also upgrade the firmware from 32 bit to 64 bit if you have an early Core Duo machine.

so i recently was given an early imac from 2006. its a core duo and i wish there were web browsers to support it. I really like the display on it so most likely, ill use it for early microsoft word to write books or an external display.
