This guy is very book smart type of individual but coming from a mechanic He is no mechanic I want every body who watched this video to know that if something falls in your spark plug hole it will not end up in your oil this is impossible also you should replace all gaskets and fuel rail o rings if disassembled this guy has alot of potential and one day could be a real mechanic but along way to go. I would have adjusted the ones on the tight side back to the loose side of the spec. Because you have a couple on the limit and now you’ll have to open it up in another 10k miles, I personally wouldn’t let it go 5k on the limit. If you set them to the middle or loose side of the spec you could have gone 25k till the next interval. Just my opinion. Getting down to the valve cover is a huge amount of work compared to taking the cams off, so if I’m down that far and some are on the tight side, I’ll definitely loosen them up so I can go longer until the next interval.

And my issue at the moment is that when the bike gets too hot in the summer time, it struggles to start up and i have to let it cool down to at least 70 or 80 degrees celcius before it starts up again... and according to honda it has to do with the valve clearance.. .so i would love to try and do the fix myself lol
@aoq28574 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a section in the manual, that mentions this problem. It is possible that the exhaust gases aren't venting properly. I would also suggest checking your coolant levels. 👍🏿

If you do need adjustments, I’d recommend determining the size shims needed and ordering them, rather than buying a shim kit. You’ll get a lot of shims you’ll never need with a kit. I’m on my second attempt of adjusting. I now have the difficult to start issue. Thought it was an electrical issue, battery possibly. But has no problem starting if it sat for a while. Looks like I’ll be going over the gap distance again.

Hey mate, just a question. My bike, honda cbr 600 rr 2004, is lately stalling in neutral at stops even clutched in and also while riding will lose power for a second or two or will jerk forward sometimes as I'm deccelerating. Do you have any idea what that might be? Thanks
@aoq2857Ай бұрын
@@tilemahosberetis4417 Sounds like it could be a valve issue. That's where I would start at least. Sorry for the late reply.

I had the air filter screw fall down into my throttle body. Didn’t know that’s where it went. Started my CBR and motor seized up. Broken valve 🤦🏽♂️
@aoq28573 жыл бұрын
oooooo, that's rough... was it the valve stem that broke?
@jasontodd93023 жыл бұрын
@@aoq2857 I believe so. I can see the top of the valve. It’s sideways and just looks messed up to hell. Everything else actually looks fine. I bought a used 09 motor but I want to get my original motor fixed. Maybe even upgrade some internal parts of the motor. I love my 08 CBR. Got any suggestions?
@aoq28573 жыл бұрын
@@jasontodd9302 If there isn't any damage to the cylinder head, you could just replace the broken valve and other damaged parts, but if there is damage to the cylinder head, it might be more cost effective to just get a used motor. (OEM parts are ridiculously expensive). To remove the valves you'll need a valve spring compressor. Also, if you are going to replace a valve stem make sure you lap it. Hope this helps!
@aoq28573 жыл бұрын
@@jasontodd9302 also it might be a good idea to check your connecting rods.
@jasontodd93023 жыл бұрын
@@aoq2857 ok so it’s good to know I’m looking in the right direction. I was looking at Carrillo Industries connecting rods and JE forged piston kit. My original motor is out. Just swapped it out with a used motor from an 09 CBR600RR. But now it’s flashing codes 2 and 34. Also has that damn ticking noise that you described in the video I watched today. I’m hoping it’s just that one valve that was damaged. But I’m ready (almost ready) to buy those upgraded parts for my original motor. I’m a diesel tech but only been in the mechanic field for 6 years. And NEVER worked on a motorcycle at all.
@ceirx88952 жыл бұрын
You're comment on the cam chain tensioner is bonk. You obviously haven't tried doing anything with the tensioner when this video was made. Even with the tank out of the way no flat head is fitting into that top unless it's a micro flat head. Let alone fitting a wrench of any kind on those bottom 2 bolts.
@aoq2857 Жыл бұрын
Yes A very small flathead is required.
