O.k the story goes "for my bike" 1 morning go to my bike start it i hear a slight whining sound • Strange whining sound ... and then riding it seemed to fade away on riding 4-5 revs on the dash next few days have past sound gone ride the bike round town like normal come home the following day try turn over the bike to start it not enough charge (low battery) put it on the charger register 12.7 volts on multi meter after charging it, start the bike all seemd good riding around for 2hrs everything is normal park the bike 10 min later the battery was flat seem to be bad battery or grumpy bike? waited 5 min the cells in the batteries bult up on its own? start the bike it turned on ride for 5-6 minutes dash instruments goes off acceleration was sluggish or nothing but had speed to 60kph then bike dies (less power than i had starting the bike and drained out to the max just about) call for a jump start rode 7 meters bike dies jump start again bike wont run after leads are of from the car jump starting the bike swap batteries with a full charge 12 volt battery bike ran like brand new! take it home loosing power on the way bike dies at home look at the volts with multi meter 4 volts left re charged it bike ran new and tested if power was charging the battery no 13-14.7 charge what so ever! knew ether stator or regulator 1 or the 2 done the tests and research from utube "how to vids" and found out the problem JUST LOADING MY STORY TO HELP OUT I GUESS? hope you like? the info and helps! • HOW TO CHECK YOUR CHAR... AND 2008 R1 MAYBE 2007 REGULATOR/RECTIFIER IS IN THE AIRBOX UNDER THE FILTER!!! and **not resonator lol rectifier** when im saying resonator i mean rectifier yolo :D

UPDATE... i fixed it by a 2nd hand magneto (stator magnets) everything ran fine and charging the bike nice and to add to make sure you push in the plugs till you hear it click in the resonator/regulator push it in very good till it cant be pushed in anymore or it wont make proper contact to the resonator/reg and when tightening the case to the stator make it tight but not too tight and keep eye on it for no oil leaks or rattleing loose after 24hrs riding time

+2controled Hi, I'm having trouble removing the generator/stator rotor. It won't come off. I can twist and move it up maybe like 10mm, but with grinding. Doesn't sound good
@2controled
@2controled 8 жыл бұрын
+MotoBoy if you trying to get it off the bike then rock the bike back and forward a touch and pull out the whole thing at the same time and watch out you don't drop anything in the motor if you trying to take it apart from the magneto from the coil and already have it of the bike use a srew driver to open it sideways make sure you fit the new one as the same way you took it out.... again sit on the bike maybe put it in gear and rock back forward and move the gars a little to slide out

2controled Thanks for the response. So it's not stuck on the bike's crank or anything. I've taken out the stator but the rotor is stuck right on it. I'm guessing that means the rotor is all fucked up. Like the magnets probably all fell off and are just grinding around there and that's why it's not coming off. I was hoping I'd have to just buy a stator (not too expensive), which I already bought but looks like I'll have to buy the rotor as well which is gonna be $$$ :/

2controled I've read that the generator rotor/magneto/flywheel whatever you want to call it goes bad on nearly every single R1 eventually. It's been a problem since since '04 and it really should have been a recall. Poor design, but they stopped making the original part and have since replaced it with a better design

I replaced the stator charged the battery and went riding it died after about 30 min of riding... it gave me a check engine code 46 then the cluster went completely dead. I had to keep jumping it and it would stay on for about a half mile. I'm going to test my rectifier and see if that's the issue. thanks a lot for your help 👍👍👍👍
@2controled
@2controled 8 жыл бұрын
you must of not clicked it properly to the rectifier regulator inspection that before anything it should loud "click" make sure it's all connected right if you changed magnito just go "how to test" editorials magnito and all that but I think you didn't plug it in to the regulator rectifier if it's just that you luck lol

Finally! someone who has a very similar issue to me. Thanks for sharing. Maybe you (or someone) can help me please. 04 R6 Garaged for 12 months New battery 1 week ago and started fine the first few days. First issue: Screen lights up but bike will not start (not even clicking) for 2 days. THEN it starts all of a sudden. (Now I think the problem has sorted itself) Second issue: I ride for an hour & stop. Bike off, then on again 5 minutes later no issue. I ride for another 15 minutes, engine light comes on and the bike just dies when I come to a stop. I push start it & keep going but when I open the throttle up, she kind of flutters and doesn't want to work in higher revs so I limp her home. (AFTER she dies on me a few more times - in Peak Hour - In Sydney) (This was last night) Now, I put the key in and turn. The fuel pumps makes its sound BUT the dash / screen does not light up (only the neutral light comes on) headlight and brake lights work.. BUT the bike will not start at all. I have checked fuses, cleaned the battery terminals... does this sound like the stator to everyone else? What should be my next move? Sorry for the long comment... I rang one shop and they said corrosion in the haress?? and another shop said not that at all and said a bunch of technical stuff that went over my head too quickly. I don't want to take it somewhere and pay for hours of work if they are looking in the wrong place. thanks

not sure about a 2004 r6 but the issue maybe regulator rectifier over heats and craps it's self... Google where it's located on your bike and KZbin how the tests are done to see if stator... but to my knowledge when the regular rectifier heats up it causes them problems so by elimination you will find out the problem test voltage if you getting around 13-14volts when you rev it it's fine the stator is ok... then if you get the bike hot and plays up try stator I'm at work so I am just giving a rough idea what it can be or I suspect lol not a mechanic but kinda Bush one haha let me know how things go charge the battery as well again and test for faults down the charging system

+2controled Thanks for your reply... I don't have the equipment to test it myself unfortunately... RE the heat thing, even after the bike has cooled all the way down, it still won't start. Not sure if that makes a difference or eliminates anything. Would you tend to rule out 'corrosion' on this one? The first shops argument was that if there is corrosion in the wiring somewhere, there will be a dodgy connection. He would have to spend about 3 hours pulling everything apart to find it! ($$$$$) After watching your vid I am leaning more towards a faulty stator or similar. I will take it somewhere to get looked at (if anyone can recommend someone Western Sydney) Hopefully this isnt going to be a big job

Ofishal Pets To get a multimeter go to a Asian gift shop get one around $10 or super cheap auto test your battery bike off then test it as you run the bike just hook it on the battery terminals... the only corrosion I can think of is to the starter motor but don't think it's that at this point if you are getting volts over 12volts when running the bike can't be stator or the magnito then if it does on you can't be starter motor the only thing I can think of regulator rectifier but need to test it within the charging system bike shops are dodgy the private ones best thing to take it to yamaha cost me $2600 to do my bike lol just go by the you tube editorials "how to test stator" how to test a battery,regulator rectifier,stator/magnito... Then you will find the fault?
@Ofishalpets
@Ofishalpets 8 жыл бұрын
+2controled $2600!!!! I don't think I will be doing anything if it cost that much... not at least for a while. So charge battery to 100% If bike starts on its own, continue steps... Multimeter on terminals... 12v + = NOT the stator / magneto If it is less than 12v test the stator??? If the bike starts on its own or dies after starting then it is NOT the starter motor. So if its neither of those two, then it is probably the third thing... ahhh... joy

+king irie hi mate you will have to full charge test voltage on battery then turn bike on rev bike to 4-5 rpm you should see 13-14 volts on battery while you have multi meter on battery terminals while doing so... (if no charge) then test rectifier regulator (coz they can fry if they over heated and work in a faulty way) then if still no fult finding results on test will be your magnito or stator.... but what to do first do battery test mentiond on top to see if bike is charging (coz can be battery on crappy power holding and mechanical charging is good) BUT i suspect need to change magnito your magnets have come apart on it DO NOT buy 2nd hand part as it is a fault with yamaha to have this issue with old part need a new one coz the magnets are seated in the magnito than just glued co open your stator cover look at the magnito after pulled apart from stator but be carefull as you might drop washes or cogs in the motor and need to re aline it back how the cogs fit so the starter motor has good contact and to gear cog... part is about $600-700aud o.e.m new anything more shoot me a message :)

I have the same problem except it dosplays er1 er2 on screen... I have a 03 r1 and its driving me insane!!!! did you replaced the regulator as well?
@2controled
@2controled 8 жыл бұрын
+1711hec i'm not sure with the 03 modle but the regulator/rectifier heat up as they run so as we all know heat to electrical parts doesn't do well i'm assuming that your regulator/rectifier is getting to hot and stuffing up if you have already changed the magnito and stator but on the safe side just test the thing (stator/magneto) and see if it is giving proper charge and due to the stator magneto being magnetized it will take abit of force to pull away from each other if near future you will have to replace it? but all fail take it to a dealer let them put it on a dyno and test run it...

@2controled
@2controled 8 жыл бұрын
+Omegakaiii i have taken the bike to a bike shop he said the "magneto" breaks apart the old one Yamaha has fixed the problem so the magnets wont break easy for new part replacement you will only get the magneto not the cogs gears make sure the washers won't fall in motor behind it and mark everything as it should go back in or you will have trouble with starter motor engaging the gears it will go bzzzzzzzzzzz lol and 100% make sure you pushed the magneto all the way in and gears sitting flush to the motor so starter motor touching it good.... and good luck :D

Do you actually know at all what you are talking about?? Resonator???volts or ohms? It is called a regulator/rectifier that changes ac volts to dc. Output Voltages from the stator to the regulator will all be measured in ac. The rest of the bike measures in dc. Huge difference if you don't get it right!
@2controled
@2controled 8 жыл бұрын
ya ya I know lol but cbf you know? clearly you knew what I mean the most motorbikes run on a phase 3 a/c and converts it to d/c for electrical systems (the regulator/rectifier the wires from the stator/magnito (alternator) is a/c after the rectifier is d/c so.... yea I do know what I'm talking about enough to get me by but hay some what way the vid helps allot of people asking so I'm just clearly showing a fault and issues I had on my bike and to top it off make your own video lol the magnitos (how ever you want to spell it has a factory fault from 2007-2008 they are glued on when the new oem replacement is seated in the case to prevent the magnets from breaking so.... as far as I was told and know? if you read thru my comments would be self explanatory that I know what the part is and does including this one :)

Seriously pal if your going to post a supposed informative video get the parts right. The part in the airbox is the RR regulator rectifier, the stator and generator are the same thing and that is the copper windings on the left of the bike. You drone on to much and what you know nothing about.

good for you lol rr is under the air box and the stator is made of a magneto and coil cheap the magneto f up as it's a factory fault what they fixed in New spare parts instead of recalling them all bikes as you can tell I did half ass the vid but in some what way you know what it helped someone :D feel free to dislike the video it's the end of the world bro haha

IT WAS MY EXP ON WHAT HAPPEN TO ME WITH A BAD STATOR NOT HOW TO FIX AND FEW OTHER INFO LIKE WHERE AND HOW TO GO ON BY DOING IT if you want to know how to test a stator look for the vid says how to test a stator or what ever you need... and since you written me off as a "dumb ass" lol i did say ref to the editorials on how to do stuff how to do stuff vids you have not told me your problem what are you trying to troll? what is wrong with your bike? i can help if you know how to use a multi meter put it on 200v put the wires on battery from multi meter as they should go rewd on red black on black or + on + and - on - rev bike to 4-5000rpm should get between 13.5-14.5 volts and it will go up or down in that field of volts if not test stator from a "HOW TO TEST A STATOR" vid on youtube, if that works then it will be most likely the reg/rec if that's fine after testing it by "HOW TO TEST REGULATOR/ RECTIFIER" most likely bad battery cell a fuse or you haven't clipped in the wires properly why do i have to re make a vid when its already done by someone else i only made this as well just say if someone had has a similar issue and some dumb ass just says "oh its your battery bro" like they all say and share the symptoms on how and what happen and a brush over what to do and where to look and a charger shown like mine if the battery is damaged it will tell you can even be your REGULATOR/ RECTIFIER getting too hot and crapping it's self when ever it wanted heaps of factors and to add some bikes if you don't rev them to 4000-5000rpm won't indicate to you that it is charging and you have to have 8volts-9volts maybe others are less to start the bike when it's drawing power normal as just sitting there will show 12v but when you turn the key starting the bike and volts drop below that mark of 8-9volts or what is is for your bike won't start and if testing rev bike ok don't have room on my screen to satisfy you just tell me whats wrong and i can assist if you can't work out what to do? p.s Alternator/stator Power Output is alternating current REGULATOR/ RECTIFIER direct current but good luck :)
