would we have to reprogram? or is there a way to keep energy flowing to the fob so it wont know the change has happened?

In my case it didn’t open car but I’ve used metal key and entered with alarm sound. Then normal startup and when I’ve turned it off after 10-20s and took of a key it started working properly.

On my 2010, I did this and now it doesn't work anymore. If you disconnect the power completely I was told after the fact by BMW, the fob will lose its programing. BMW says at this point the only remedy is to buy a whole new key. Does anyone know of a work around for this? I guess with my 2010 anyway, you have to keep power on it or else the lock and unlock and trunk part of the key will die (although when you insert the fob, it will still start the car) I checked all the fuses too and that is not it. All the fuses are fine. Q: is there a work around for this?

would the battery be the reason my trunk wont open? i can still lock my car though...so maybe my battery is still good and the trunk is a different issue.

I have the same problem also. Mine won’t unlock or open the trunk it’ll lock the doors tho. I’m starting to think it’s not the key fob. It’s something electrical with the car and the key fob

Ablas español? If you changed the battery and buttons arent working it's most likely going to be the fuse for the antenna. Check the fuse. That'll be it

I called BMW Parts department Northfield, IL dealership and they said NO. This is a non-comfort access key and you shouldn't take it apart. Drive the car more and the battery will charge itself. Will see if that works. Good luck folks. Thx
