2007 - 2012 Mercedes Benz GL450 fuel filter replacement. (The vehicle fuel level was on E)

Full details on how to replace Mercedes Benz GL 450 fuel filter. Before I worked on the vehicle I made sure the fuel tank was on E... so I didn't have to deal with too much fuel in the tank.

Also sir what kind of sealant did you use for pump cover plate?

You can use ( gasket sealer ) it will work just fine with this type of covers.

What was the symptoms for the replacement of the filter and pump? My 08 GL550 was idling in the driveway in the morning it cut off, but i thought it cut off because of the key not being around the vehicle when i was in the garage. Went to get in to drive to work and all it did was spin over. Checked the fuel rail no pressure, listened for the fuel pump to kick on, but no noise. Sprayed starter fluid into the intake car starts up just fine so crank sensor isn't the problem. WTF did the pressure sensor or fuel pump module cause the no power issue??? I just can't believe the pump kicked the bucket like that from idling in the driveway....

The car smell gasoline even when it is parked and no key in the ignition... the filter was leaking fuel.

My is 2010 and today just die. Short history today 4/30/22 las Saturday doesn't start just crank check everything has pressure on fuel rail when turn key so i ended replacing crank position sensors and car star so i say thanks my car is fix but 2 day later the car just died again i checked again and no pressure on fuel rail check fuses and fuse i think 43 was open replaced and then the car stars again and now a couple days later the car doesn't star again so i check everything again all fuses at this time ok but no pressure on fuel rail, so i think is the fuel pump this time. My question is i have to replace both items or just the fuel pump which is locate on passenger side ???? Please help me Thanks in advance

When changing the filter I have to go to the pump side to disconnect the filter hoses from the pump but if changing only the pump I don't have to go to the filter side.

Behind the driver seat under the rear seat that's where the fuel filter is.... and it comes with a floater. The floater might be defective. Sorry, forgot to mention.. to change the fuel filter... the fuel pump behind the passenger seat... under the rear seat must be removed because they are connected. Unless the floater was just jammed and there is no need to change the fuel filter.

The one in the video has one fuel pump under the the back seat behind the passenger and the fuel filter is under the back seat behind the driver.

If you are removing the fuel pump you don't have to remove the fuel filter. However, if you are removing the fuel filter then you gotta access both locations to unplug from fuel pump.

I have a question. So my passenger side the tank is full where the fuel pump is and on the driver side where the fuel filter sits the tank is empty. Is it suppose to be like that? Or its suppose to be equal. Also what could cause one side being full and other side empty. Thanks

What vehicle do you have? The one in the video... it's a large flat tank that covers both sides. It's not 2 separate tanks.

Don't you have to take certain steps to remove a battery from mercedes so it doesnt throw all the check engine codes for reset?

Not to my knowledge. One thing is you have to remove it very carefully because there are some wires that can be easily broken.

The fuel filter usually is on top of the fuel tank under the seat behind the driver.
