Is there a cam position sensor for each cylinder? I have 4 things on the front of my block (Mk2 Avensis) connected to the harness, seems to be 1 module on each cylinder. I do not know what they are.

There is only one cam position sensor for the entire engine and one for the crankshaft. Is your Mk2 Avensis diesel?

@@Bobb2024 My friend today for the first time and with considerable difficulty I removed and cleaned the crankshaft sensor. It is not at all easy to remove this sensor because firstly it is in a difficult position and secondly you have to remove several components (belt, generator, etc.). What worries me the most is the narrow and slightly dark workspace that results in the difficulty of mounting the camcorder. After that I stopped videotaping because I did not like the end result. But I will come back sometime later.

@@YiannisPagonis I am sorry if i made problem to do it but i have corolla 2006 and i just thought it would be same easy and i think if u jack the car up little bit and go from behind the tire maybe that will be helpful because sometimes it comes dirty and i saw a lot of people cars was collecting a lot of metal peices have wonderful days .

P0017 in the Toyota Corolla is predominantly caused by a few different things. It is typically thrown when the Crankshaft Position Sensor and the Camshaft Position Sensor are out of alignment by a certain number of degrees, or if there is an issue with the wiring, or one of the sensors themselves may have gone bad. We’ll explore the symptoms and causes directly below. P0017 refers to which camshaft position sensor is out of time with the Crankshaft. In this case it’s sensor “B”, Sensor “A” throws P0016 P0017 Symptoms: Toyota Corolla P0017 should be considered an important trouble code to diagnose and repair. The crank and cam sensors work in tandem to produce the ideal air/fuel ratio for your engine. When this timing is off, the engine will typically not run (or barely run). Here are the major symptoms of P0017 in the Corolla: Failure to start Rattle coming from the motor Service engine soon light Engine poorly running P0017 Causes and Solutions: Toyota Corolla Here are the most common causes of P0017 in the Corolla, as well as diagnostic advice, and resources to further explore. It’ll either be a wiring issue, or it’ll be a physical problem (bad reluctor or timing chain jumped). Wiring Issues One of the most common causes of P0017 in any vehicle is going to be wiring issues. You’ll want to inspect the wiring harness for visible damage. A lot of the harness leading to and from the Crank/Cam sensors is going to be exposed to hot exhaust and vibration. This is a great place to start diagnosing P0017 in your Corolla. It’s quick and easy to do this before moving on to the sensors themselves. Make sure to check the harness where it plugs into both sensors as well.
