17:27 Thanks for the video. Need to do that to mine. Always like to see someone else do it so i know what i an getting into, that way I dont cuss the engineers out too much!! Lol At least they put a drain on the radiator better than others you have to take the hose off!! I prefer doing things myself done right.

Was there an issue with the thermostat or should it be changed when, doing a coolant drain and fill?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGEАй бұрын
No issue I was just doing it as preventative maintenance.

good job. I book marked this one and will tackle it tomorrow

Great video. Very detail oriented for the novice DIY'er. Question: Why did you replace the thermostat? Is that part of normal maintenance or did you have an issue? If it was a repair, what were the symptoms? Thanks!
@BLUECOLLARGARAGEАй бұрын
Thank you. I only replaced it as preventative maintenance just because vehicle was getting quite a few miles on it and it was definitely time to change the coolant so figured might as well change thermostat while it’s drained.

If it overfills some will it be a problem? Or will it just go out the overflow?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Жыл бұрын
Just a little bit you'll be fine. You could also just grab a turkey baster from the kitchen and suck some out if you need to.

Wife loves it when I do that. 😂

That coolant was for a gm, ok to use in a ford?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s for Ford as well. Ford switched to the orange coolant in 2011-2018 ethylene glycol which is the same as GM dexcool.
@abyssiniahenry128 Жыл бұрын
FYI, Ford recommends switching to their new Yellow VC13G P-OAT coolant (or VC13DL-G for pre mixed). Replaces the Orange and Specialty Green coolants.
@donbenson52927 ай бұрын
Is that the same as Dexcool or just Orange extended?@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE

how did yiu drain 5 quarts but fill it with the entire bucket of premix which was 8 quarts?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Жыл бұрын
I didn’t use the entire bucket of 8 qts it’s kind of hard to tell what was left in there. I dumped it back in to the coolant jug and measured it. I show that at 29:40 in the video.

@@BLUECOLLARGARAGEoh missed that. Thanks! This was a great video and got it done! can't wait to see what else you put out so I can follow along

New to your channel, any videos for doing a coolant flush on a '16 SEL AWD?
@MegaTapdog Жыл бұрын
distilled water still has minerals in it, deionized water is what you want if you want no minerals like you mentioned. I don’t think it makes a difference myself, i’ve always used distilled. too. good video thanks.

Thanks for the video. I see you switched wrenches on the bottom, putting the thermostat housing back on. Good move. I have to do mine in a couple of days. You just made it a lot easier.
