Thanks for showing the alternative way of getting the thermostat housing off, every other video I watched did it the complicated way.

Nice video. It would also have been advantageous replacing the thermostat while you had easy access or mentioned it in the video.

Thank you! Personally, I’ve never seen a thermostat fail on the 5.7 L engine, so I don’t replace it on any of the Tundras I work on when doing the water pump.

Been having a constant noise. Thought it was the belt but replaced and still there. I determined it has to be my water pump/pulley. The pulley does have a little play where you can wobble it a tad. I’m convinced it’s going bad and just needs to be replaced. I will use your video to help with replacing. Will let ya know final outcome. Thx

Thank you for the video.i just did this job on my 2008 tundra,with the aisin water pump that i purchased from Amazon. unfortunately the new water pump is making a constant noise, almost like a scraping noise. Also noticed coolant on the skid plate after being parked for couple of hours. Wondering if i got a bad pump. Thank you for your time.
@Viktor_G_AutomotiveАй бұрын
@@chevybass86 I’ve never seen a problem with a new Aisin pump, but it is possible that you got a bad one. Just make sure it’s not something else rubbing before you go pull it out.

I also read that you should turn the water pump manually before turning on vehicle for first time so it's not dry on first start. Is that a crucial step.
@Viktor_G_AutomotiveАй бұрын
@ no, I’ve never seen that in the manual

Hi! Followed your video and was able to replace my water pump in a good amount of time. Thanks for that. Question. It’s been about 4 days and now I have a drip leak on the lower passenger side of the water pump gasket. Only while running. Failed gasket? If so if I tear it down again, can I use the same pump or should I get the whole assembly? I’m assuming I either pinched the gasket or it failed due to a bad part. It was the Asin pump you had listed in the comments. Thanks!
@Viktor_G_Automotive2 ай бұрын
@@jeffobermesik9558 hi, yes, you can use the same pump and just replace the gasket. Hopefully you cleaned the mating surface by hand and not with a power grinder, I’ve seen people do that and cause leaks. The gasket is metal with a coating on it, it’s unlikely it was pinched, but maybe the coating was damaged or the mating surface wasn’t cleaned fully?

Thank you for this excellent video. I’m replacing mine soon at 170k. Is the one that came out an Aisan? I see I can get Aisan on Rockauto.

Thank you very much. It’s actually cheaper on Rockauto but I have to pay shipping. The problem with Amazon is the warranty sometimes defaults to the Amazon warranty which is 30 days. I learned the hard way with a CV axle. Rockauto warranty claim process is good and is the manufacturer warranty of lifetime in this case.

Great video Viktor! You sell your race tundra yet? Lol. Question I have a leaky Rad in my 2007 Tundra crew max. Should I I go OEM or go to the aftermarket for a new one? I have no plans to up the performance of the engine. any suggestions?
@Viktor_G_Automotive7 ай бұрын
Thanks Grant! I sold the engine, transmission and supercharger, in the process of installing it into my friend’s truck right now. Will be converting my race truck back to stock NA and selling it this summer. I’d go with an OEM rad, they last a long time in my experience.

What size wrench did you use to get the lower left bolt for the throttlebody I know you said you used a wrench but man it is tight and I can’t seem to get it off. How long was the wrench?
@Viktor_G_Automotive10 ай бұрын
The throttle body is held on with 4 x 10mm head bolts, they are easy to access and get off. Are you possibly referring to something else?
@jeremysierra476310 ай бұрын
@@Viktor_G_Automotive I got the the bolts mixed up. I got it now. Do you have torque specs for the throttle body housing onto the water pump? Is it 15 pounds too?
