Your review is exactly how I felt when I drove one. Its a special car and was a little sad when I had to hand the keys back to the owner. By far, the best car I have ever driven
@aston-martin-internationalist4 жыл бұрын
You need to drive it in the power band, you changed gears too early, all the power is up the top end and that's where you feel the car open up. They don't really do much below 3krpm, you have to take them right through the rev range to extrapolate the power, but that's just fine as it sounds even better the harder you drive it. Nice review though, I love my Vantage. 🙂

This one of the most beautiful cars ever to look at. It leaves the 911 in the dust in that department. I would get one of these without thinking twice. I'd try to get the 4.7.

Great review, love the car a whole bunch. Looking at one of these or a 911 4S around 2006/2007. The Aston sounds and looks terrific. Live in Durban so finding someone to service the Aston might be a challenge
@takeitforadrive4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yes a 2006 911 4S should be round around the same price, maybe a little bit more expensive. But services on the Aston might be a bit more, not sure about the independents in Durban. Hope you get what your looking for!

the people that AM targets for these cars don't do stoplight to stoplight drag racing so 380HP or thereabouts is 'sufficient' as the rolls royce marketing department used to say about their engine's power output. when seeking a sporting drive, one simply keeps the rpms above 3000 or so. i personally prefer a detuned engine knowing that it is inherently more reliable. OTOH, i question the transmission, gear choices (especially reverse, it's ridiculously tall) and clutch. and aesthetically speaking i prefer the 2007-2008 models. the 2009 facelift was a slight step backwards IMO.
@deep6thisdeep6this923 жыл бұрын
that's a good price for that car considering the mileage and what looks like its excellent condition. ...got one just like it, inside, outside, mileage and condition. they are wonderful! took it on a 6000 trip soon after purchase and had no problems with it on the trip whatsoever. IMO, these cars hit the bottom of their depreciation curve a couple of years ago and are now on a little bit of a rise here in the U.S. they could stay static for quite a while considering how many of them were sold.
@okeyezeilo61874 жыл бұрын
This Aston remains one of the most beautiful cars ever. The problem with it was always the lack of power. It's performance never quite matched its superlative sound track. Someone unkindly referred to it as 'all mouth no trousers'. I do believe, however, that there are now aftermarket performance upgrades to address this....
@astonmartin43604 жыл бұрын
The V12 version fixed the power issue.The V8 looks great,but can't compete with the V12.
@bigmacdaddy12344 жыл бұрын
Lack of power? Um no, it always had more than enough power. The typical AM owner is a below average driver that will run out of driving skills long before they run out of car.

So you 'title' the heading stating - Better than a Porsche 911? I watched this expecting a reasonable comparison, as most people would I imagine. Towards the end you mention that you haven't driven enough 911's to provide a good comparison - what a joke! Sorry but I'm a massive AM fan, but this is just a really crap way of boosting your views! @@takeitforadrive I thought it was a bit of an extravagance next to their coffee shop. Even the replica would be an interesting review, and they command serious money too. If I can leave a marketing suggestion: copy someone's format, in the same language, doesn't help and won't give you the same numbers just because of this... unless you are already "at the top of the food chain" and you are the one that "eat" the other. "Parmezan" is not Parmigiano. Make your own Emmental and you'll win!

Turbo S owner here. Cars at this price level is purely subjective, as people would call a 5000 lbs bently a "sports car". Porsche cars are meant to be driven, and people who do don't need to find acknowledgement in those youtube videos, because they have smile on their face every time they sit behind the wheel :)
