I've had a 2007 Vantage for almost three years and it's a great all around car. With 200TW tires, it's even fun on the autocross course (video proof on my channel). One thing Doug doesn't mention is that the car is quite DIY friendly. Since purchasing it, I've installed track pads and high temp brake fluid, O2 sensors, a serpentine belt, and an oem Sports Pack suspension kit, all at home with regular tools. Thanks to Ford interchangeability, some of the parts weren't even that expensive. And I "fixed" the infotainment with an Echo Auto and a bluetooth module that streams through the CD Changer port. It was a dream car of mine since it came out, and I can't think of much else I'd rather have for the price

Working toward it though. Still prefer old cars over all the modern safety beeping and warnings. 21 years driving with no accidents.

@@milans3747 Massively untrue. Ferrari especially are far more expensive to maintain. These vantages are parts bin specials and are fairly bulletproof. They have a timing chain which is great and lots of their parts are from Ford, Volvo and Jaguar. You see a few of these online with some serious mileage. Their only downfall is on the electrical side of things but that will be the same for pretty much every car from this era.

Funny, I’ve had mine 3 years and the only things I’ve fixed are the door struts and an alarm sensor (battery had gone bad after 18 years). Total in parts was under $500. Also I’m researching getting something like a 570S or F430 and their parts and maintenance are drastically more expensive. The VH Platform on which all Astons from this era are built, was originally developed by Lotus. They’re known for building some of the best handling chassis ever made. Weight distribution is even and you find double wishbone suspension in all four corners. (The new double wish bone front axle is something the new 992 GT3 gets praised for currently as no 911 ever had it before). This superior chassis is the reason why Aston Martin won everything in the early 2000‘s in long distance racing including Le Mans also besing Porsches. On Top Gear the DBS went around the track quicker then the Zonda. Never underestimate the performance of an Aston. They’re beautiful, luxurious AND capable.

(Prior cars- 300zx, m coupe, Volvo s60r (has the same mirrors as the vantage actually), e46 m3, m2 competition, 2023 ford bronco. The vantage is incredibly reliable if you take care of it. I do my own oil changes every 3k miles, and it takes less than 45 minutes. The only thing I’ve had fail in the last 5 years of ownership is the auxiliary fan, which was $600… trust me, don’t let the perception of a few that have never owned one, ruin potential ownership. Just look at the cooling system, hose connectors etc, looks like plumbing you don't usually see in most production cars. These were tested and regularly raced in endurance races. Drawback would be small electrical issues, and most computer diagnostic software is unable to communicate with most of its modules, forces you to use specialty dealer system to pinpoint and fix small issues (such as. srs system, abs system etc).

Always loved the look of these. However, when they came out I had a 2006 M3 with the competition package and thought that it was too heavy. This weighed even more and while it had 50 more bhp I wasn't interested in buying one, just looking at them. It's amazing how cars have changed since then, almost everything is obese.

I would not be nervous driving this car in NY or CA. But if this thing dies in Kansas, it'd be cheaper to just start hitchhiking at that point...

Those were the mad days in motoring history.. Ford owned Volvo,Jaguar and land rover and built them behind the same wall... GM owned Saab,Opel and Vauxhall and killed them all..

Whomever buys this, if you are reading these comments, I know there is some work needing doing on the car but please try to put the original lights and bumper back on it. The later V8 S bumper looks wrong without the larger dove tail on the trunk/book. This car deserves to brought back to its original factory look and it's a stunner. And astonmartinbits in the UK is your go to for the cluster screen replacements and other misc parts.
