Did you figure out what was wrong with it?

Assuming the other brake lights work. Check plug to see if you have power with test light or meter. Trace back if needed to find bad connection.

Is there also a possible fuse blown out causing them to not work?

Check brake light switch itself or maybe a fuse.

Avoid fingering the hell out of those bulbs tho. You're finger grease can severely shorten the life span of those lights. If there's enough on there, it can pop too, causing a blown fuse.
