Thanks for the video, attempting on a 2009 Avalanche. Windshield was fogging up and smell of antifreeze, no leaks at all, I also found its a sealed system, no cabin filter. It was a bit dirty but not bad. I'm doing a flush first before trying the replacement.

Hey bro. Quick question. Trying to diagnose my problem, I went ahead and watched your video to get an idea on what I’m about to dive in if it ends up being the heater core. But, I have an 07 Tahoe LT 5.3. The heat isn’t the hottest, today it was around 32 degrees. I had the heat on 80 and it didn’t seem to be as “warm” as it should be lol.
@michaelyoucanfixthat3 жыл бұрын
I sorry it took so long for the reply. Be it sound like you have problems with your thermostat. I bet your thermostat is not opening all the way and not letting the hot water circulate through your heater core. If you had a bad heater core you would 1. Have antifreeze in your passenger seat floor. 2. Your windows would be fogging up when you turn on your heat. 3. You would have a load smell of antifreeze coming out of your air vents. If you don’t have one of the 3. You just a have a bad thermostat.
@dakotabradshaw68833 жыл бұрын
@@michaelyoucanfixthat that’s also what I was thinking. My windows do fog up with the heat on. Not awfully bad tho. Not coolant in the floorboard no antifreeze smell either. Thanks for the quick reply brother! And also this video is very helpful! If I was to have to replace it.

@Lady-Carmakazi2 жыл бұрын
@@rickdouglas8286 Yes good info. We did this & now have a little bit of heat but I can still smell antifreeze. At least we can probably make it through the winter until it warms up enough to be outside working on it ourselves. We tried to run hot water through it then used the water hose for more pressure, it did help. I think ours will need replaced very soon. Idk why chevy doesn't put an access though the glove box area so people wouldn't have to pull the entire dash away. Looks like a nightmare to deal with..

Do you think I can get to the actuator to move it by hand My 2014 GMC Yukon is stuck on cold and not shifting to let the heat blow
@michaelyoucanfixthat Жыл бұрын
You should be able to get to the ones on the driver’s side of the truck. But on the passenger side will be more difficult and if you get to them. You can not just move them by hand. You will have to take the screws out of them then move the AC doors by hands or if you know someone with a good enough Scan tool. The scan tool have a function that move the actuators through the tool but if they are stuck maybe you can hit on it to get it to move. So but actuators are hard to deal with. They ether work or you replace them to make them work.

@michaelyoucanfixthat2 жыл бұрын
You can have two thing wrong. Yes you heater core can be blocked. You can remove the two hoses going to your heater core and get the water hose and try to run water through the heater core to see if it comes out of the other side. or you can have a thermostat that is bad and will not let the hot antifreeze circulate through the engine to get to your heater core. You would know if that is the case because your engine maybe over heating. Most bad heater cores leak inside the truck or your windows fog up real bad. Or you smell antifreeze coming out of the air vents. For mine it was the windows fogging up. I hope that helps.

How did you know it was heater core was it leaking on the inside or outside
@michaelyoucanfixthat3 жыл бұрын
There is 3 ways you know your heater cord is bad. 1) if you smell radiator coolant coming out of your air vents. 2) If you see water that smell like coolant on the passenger side floor. 3) If your windshield is getting fogged up as you drive and it does it every time. Most likely your heater cord is bad or going bad. I hope that helps.

@@michaelyoucanfixthat one more question...where did u see the leak coming from? Where specifically was it leaking??

Lamu Taafua mine was leaking inside the vehicle on the passenger side floor. When I removed the core. It had a rusted out spot on the core. But you will know if you smell antifreeze inside the vehicle most likely it’s your heater core. Especially if it’s coming out your vents.

Then there is one holding the air conditioning condenser strap to the fire wall. It may be one more around that area. Then it’s one or two behind the battery. Then if you have the hoses disconnected it should come out. There is nothing else holding it. Let me know if that works.
