When the smoke is too unclear, I turn it off and spray water or soapy water with the smoke machine still applying air flow into the system and watch for bubbles like your air pump video. Great job making the videos. Love watching them. Wish I could devote myself to do the same.

Could one get away with putting rtv around the cracked piece? How much pressure is that wvsp system under? I have the same dam code and just replaced the vent canister and the fuel cap. Should have never sold my 2000 this 07 has been a shit box.

It may work for temporary fix to get it inspected, but be prepared to change it as it will only get worse.

Are the vent solenoids Normally closed or Normally open. Wondering if you need the diag tool to close the vents in order to test this.

So to do the smoke test and if you don't have the scanner to close the solenoid all you need to do is plug the line where the fresh air comes in?....But then by doing it this way I won't know if the solenoid itself is has the leak so if I just unplug the solenoid will this close it? Disconnect the battery would work If unplugging it, right?

My 2009 Silverado 1500LTZ does not have that evap test port that yours does. Weird..

The air youre breathing is about 78% nitrogen buddy🤣 the other 21% being oxygen and 1% being carbon dioxide/water vapor and whatever else is in the air. I think buddy will be just fine

I don't have a fancy computer to turn on/off the evap components to test. I have a BlueDriver OBD2 reader only. Can I do a smoke test while the engine is running and watch it that way?

Yes sir, it was the fuel pump broke on the top

How do I close the vents if I don't have a fancy scanner like that have a smoke machine though.

The vent valve will usually have a rubber hose going to it that you can pinch off. That will give ability to smoke test the rest of the evap system. But without commanding it with a scantool you are taking the vent out of the system which could actually be your problem. If you command it closed and it leaks well then there’s your problem (if wiring is ok).

You will need to have bi-directional controls or output test functions. If it’s a cheap code reader it probably does not have that function

William Hunn TSB's on this issue from GM. IF it were a recall there would've been letters sent out to owners. There's a kit that keeps the vent by the fuel door from getting water intrusion and you have to get the kit and reroute the vent under the vehicle. Possible other po455 causes, fuel pressure sensors, particles in vent system blocking flow, cracked tank if you want to believe that one as I saw a real fix on suretrack for that as well. Solenoid is one possibility.
