I'm 17 and I love these panther cars. The Marauder and the Grand Marquis are my favorites. All the other teens can enjoy their little sport cars while I sit in the slow lane enjoying the ride. I hope to get one in the future.
@scottthroop62085 жыл бұрын
I have an 07 MGM LS, bone stock. The last place you will want to be is the slow lane with this car! They arent the quickest off the line, but at freeway speeds the acceleration is where these cars really rock! At 70mph the tach is only around 2k rpm, and will still pin you to the seat if you stand on the pedal. My daily commute includes a 4mi long 7% uphill grade on the fwy, and this car acts like its not even there, in overdrive, no downshift, and still plenty of passing power to spare.
@Goku_Kiyosaki5 жыл бұрын
Scott Throop seriously??? What about in a Lincoln town car??
@scottthroop62085 жыл бұрын
A Towncar should be similar. The Towncar is longer to make a roomier back seat and im sure just a bit heavier, but has the same drivetrain. Correction on the tach reading I stated above. Its exactly 2K rpm's at 80mph, not 70.
@Goku_Kiyosaki5 жыл бұрын
Scott Throop should a 21 year get this type of car ?
@scottthroop62085 жыл бұрын
@@Goku_Kiyosaki Absolutely! They are safe, reliable, cheap, easy to work on , and parts are everywhere. And the Crown Vic and MGM are like chamilions, can go from the grandma car and cop car look to sporty hot rod look with a few hundred bucks with simple direct bolt on wheels. Awesome cars to learn mechanics with, great entry level muscle car that is powerful, yet not overwhelming for younger drivers. Great for takin 5 friends along for a road trip, with tons of room in the HUGE trunk. Best advice, get one, no matter what age you are. They are so affordable now, its a cheap risk that you will most likely be pleased with. Just do some internet research and know what to look for. Remember, police crown vics although awesome, tend to have high miles, and even higher engine hours. They spend most of their lives idling. But, they have regular professional maintenance. Grand Marquis on the other hand, tend to have lower miles, and usually one or 2 owner cars driven by an older person and not pushed to its limits like a service vehicle. Towncars are typically service cars as well, and usually have very high engine hours compared to miles. Around the los Angeles area, you usually see them waiting for their elite passengers idling with the air conditioner going. You really cant go wrong with any of them, but the MGM may be the best bang for the buck because they usually aren't fleet or service cars.

Last month, I bid a teary farewell to my 1988 Grand Marquis as it rolled away on the flatbed. It hadn't run in 12 years but I was always "gonna fix it." My 1995 lasted until 2015 when the transmission went out at 270k miles. The 2004 I'm driving now is still mechanically rock solid at 170k, but the body has succumbed to New England road salt. I just picked up a 2007 Palm Beach Edition with an astonishing 26000 miles on it. It has been garaged for most of its life and is SPOTLESS. I should be good for at least another 10 years!!

I totally agree with ya, even most modern luxury cars have pretty rough seats. Especially the unnecessarily sporty common 3 and 5 series BMW cars. Back in early 2000 they actually used to be nice, not it's just so rough riding.
