I still own and ride this model almost daily as soon as the temps get over 50-55F in northern PA. Mine is a 05 model and has been near flawless since new. It still looks showroom minus a few normal riding scratches from my boots. They really are a great bike for the money. I like that its lines look more like a chopper than a modern day cruiser. That engine has been around since the 80's and run strong for their size. You're right it has a smaller bike weight and feel, but looks like a full on chopper similar in style to a HD Dyna, StreetBob etc. Its powered by many a HD in fun little roll on races. The older HD engine from that time, the 1340cc didn't have the grunt as the S83 engine, in stock form at least. My son is old enough to ride the streets now, and I started him on my DR650se on/off road bike. I'm looking for an M50 or C50 for him for next season. Thanks for the videos.

Miss mine. That instant torque is so satisfying. Not scary fast, but a ton of fun.

I bought a 2007 suzuki s83 from a neighbor who let it sit a year and a half or maybe 2 years out in the sun, rain, you name it, after a tree limb fell on it and knocked it over denting the tank and breaking the blinker, mirror, footpeg bent. Anyway, it needed a lot of work. My dad did the work. The seat was torn too. Anyway, it's been a year now and he's about finished. He's 70 years old and I don't expect him to be speedy it's just not his style. It has 2 new Michelin Commander II tires, new brakes, pads and discs, the master cylinder for the brakes leaked, that's fixed, new tubes cause it's spoke wheels, new ignition, the old owner put a cheap lawnmower ignition with a tiny key, new filters, the old one literally disintegrated when we took it off, the headlight had about a mile of electrical tape that had turned to mushy black goo, the brakes had to be completely rebuilt they were full of water, he had to re apolster the seat which is very hard to do, everything had to be fixed, bracket for the right mirror, headlamp bracket had to be mig welded, it was broken, everything had to be sanded, bond, and primer, and painted, lots of odds and ends that come with upkeep that had been SEVERELY neglected. He's replacing the bulb in my speedometer, it's burnt, and adding 2 fog lights in the front extra lights in the back, all led, and converting headlamp to led to use less power and after that, I will have to ride it to make sure it is good for the road and that's going to be it! I can't wait! I haven't even rode it yet but but the engine cranks right up. I let my MC endorsement go like a dummy but I haven't been on a bike in 20 years so I really miss it just have to get reacquainted with it and take it very slow. I do have confidence in my riding abilities. I grew up riding all of my childhood and young adult life. Safety is a huge part of my riding and I can't tell you how many times I have watched this video. Cheers!

my current bike is a 93 intruder 1400. which is basically the same bike. the only difference is they added a fifth gear around 97 but that's it i love my bike and have ridden many other brands and these intruders have lots of low end tork I've been very happy with it the only reason I'm even looking at another bike is because the back seat is very small and uncomfortable for my wife for any distance of about 50 miles. these were great bikes I have done basically no work to this bike except for regular maintenance on it

corey bowles friend i have question for you, is true that the max speed of this bike is only 104 mph ?
@coreybowles9576 жыл бұрын
@@MOTOFRANK2 yeah that is pretty much the top you're going to get out of this bike I think I got it to 110 once but I that was it. The nice thing is even though it doesn't have a crazy high top speed it gets you there very quickly. I can cruise all day long on mine going 70 75 with no issues

Got one a month ago. First bike. Power isn’t the problem when first learning on one. It’s the weight and turning.

That's why I always wear a full helmet. Them people that ride without helmets, I don't know how they do it. June bugs and bumblebees hurt. Also pebbles off of the road.

I've watched this video so many times. Decided I want one of these for my second bike because I want something that can handle a long distance trip on California's fast freeways, and its styling is just gorgeous. Hopefully I'm picking one up in the next few weeks after I sell my GS500. Thanks for posting Sean!

Just Sold my 2007 this past week LOVE this bike. It has a lot of power, sad I had to sell her. Money problems or I would have kept her. One of the fastest bikes I've ever owned. It has more power then shown on this video. It is definitely for the more experienced rider I believe, rode her for 5 years.

FYI: This bike has a hydraulic clutch (you can see the master cylinder on the left front of the handle bars at 2:35) and the master cylinders have been known to get dirty and clog the fluid line, making the clutch slip or feel notchy. This model also has a history of weak clutch springs. All in all nothing major and can be fixed cheaply. Other than that great bikes and very reliable.
