My comment is LONG OVERDUE, but let me say that back in January my GF’s car was throwing codes about a week after paying for front end work by a Nissan tech who works on the side (around $1,000). I can’t remember the codes but the simplest solution was to change the spark plugs/ignition coils. I’m no mechanic but I figured I could do that. So I begin and realize oil is leaking from the valve cover, and I’m scrambling trying to figure it out. Then I find your video. What a GODSEND! I’ve never seen such a detailed video for such an in-depth repair. I was in such awe that watched the video at least two or three times to make sure nothing was being left out. I had to stop here and there to wait on parts/tools, but we have a backup car so that was ok. Your instructions saved us a ton of money and educated me as well. Brother, you are AMAZING at what you do. I can’t thank you enough!!

Dude, this was awesome! This is the first video I’ve seen that dealt with that motor mount system. Also, it’s good to adhere to the torque specifications on that valve cover. Most people aren’t as experienced as you are, best to follow the specs. You could get that valve cover, with new bolts and valve cover gasket for about 40 bucks on eBay. Just make sure you don’t buy the super cheapest one. You should never try to gap iridium plugs, you could check them, but you should never touch the contact with a gapper. You are absolutely correct, spark plugs, brand new not with the right gap happen sometimes. Best to check them while you’re still in the store. Just had a customer that I had to replace them twice because of it. Half of the 2009 Altima’s have a replaceable PCV valve, the other half are built into the valve cover. If you’re buying a new valve cover, always buy the one with the replaceable. you definitely know your stuff bad, new subscriber.

Hi, this is a great video. Nobody has posted out how to change these parts, not even on forums. The design difference with previous models made it easier to change these parts. Now, with the new design on the 07-12 we have extra work removing the engine bracket. You mentioned key points like the hoses that break easily, the seals cannot be serviced [auto part stores don't know about it, they still sell seals you don't need]. You removed the alternator for easy access, valve cover comes with pcv valve pre -installed, the cylinder affected is common on these models.

THANK YOU - Great video what a time saver!! I am hung up trying to figure out what to do about the alternator? I noticed that it is just gone but not talked about, that I can find. FYI.. to comments that say the designer should be fired. What you are not getting is that they did their job as required by the manufacturer! They design the difficulty into the cars now! Why would they do that? (Seems crazy huh.) Because if it is harder to do fewer DYI peeps like us and more people reliant on the dealership for repairs. Repairs that are harder, by design, so they can charge more for them. I am over 50 and when I was a teen I did all my own car work because I couldn't afford anything else plus it was pretty easy. Now NOTHING is easy because it is designed to not be. Thanks again for the video!

My Friend's '08 Altima was missing.... he went to a real rip-off mechanic who read the code and told him to replace the plugs & coils and PVC value & hose....wanted $1k to do it... Crazy... I ordered in the parts and we broke it down... and changed the coils and plugs... but found some oil in one of the plugs. I don't live near by.... so we put everything back together and it ran ok... but now getting an occasional miss again (no engine code (yet!))--- So... Question is... if I find the time to get the valve cover & gasket and now break things all the way down...Do I need to change the coil that has some oil in it? (for a few bucks.. I'll get a new spark plug...) but do I need to change the others.... only a couple hundred miles since the coil/plug change. --and should I do the mounts too? Absolutely! -- I subscribed the first time I watched the video a few weeks ago. On my 2007 Nissan Altima I had to replace the valve cover with new seal, all spark plugs and all ignition coils. Something I did differently than your video was, I smeared a light coat of WD-40 on the tube seals with my fingers before mounting the valve cover. It helped the seals fit right on the tubes with little effort while I was checking all around to make sure the cover seal did not come off the rail. Similar to your video, my case was coil #2 with the fault, switched it to another position and the fault followed the coil. However, after trying 7 different coils from different companies resulting in having the same fault I decided to replace all the coils with the Nissan OEM upgrades (22448-1KT1A) to the ones that came with my car from factory (22448-JAOOA) which the upgrades were the same as the ones on your video and also installed all new Nissan spark plugs 22401- JA01B. So far so good but if I run into any other issues with misfires after this, I will share. I have no doubt your video has helped a boat load of folks out there. Keep it up my man! Super job on the video!
@cheechd19645 жыл бұрын
To clarify, I used the upgrade coils (22448-1KT1A), not the old model that came with the car (22448-JAOOA). Don't want to get folks out there confused. definitely go with the upgraded coils if using Nissan OEM for 2007 Altima.

Amazing video, thank you so much! I did this today. Watched the video so much, I have the song in the video stuck in my head! Just out of curiosity, do you, or anyone else know, how much Nissan or another shop would have charged to do everything that was done in this video?

check to make sure you tightened up the 2 ground wires on the top of the motor mount bracket. they are for the ignition coils.

0:46 in the video is where i loosen them. check those 2 ground wires and make sure they are attached and tight.

@@edgarmeza5616 not sure what else it could be then. Did you plug the cam sensors back in? make sure they are plugged in fully.

Today I worked on my 09 Altima's engine valve cover, following the shop service manual. It requires torques to be applied to the bolts on the cover in two steps: 1) 17 in lb 2) 74 in lb. and in a particular order, almost like criss-cross pattern, tightening bolts in linearly pattern is not recommended, as well as with over or under torquing these bolts, which may lead to undesire effects down the road. The same go with engine mount bolts. I torqued the nut on the verticle mount to 76ft lb; 63 ft lb for the center bolt of the right side engine mount and 37 ft lb for all the bracket bolts as specified in the manual. Disclaimers: this is strictly my interpretation and understanding of the information on the manual. In no way, will it be used as instruction or advice to apply to any part of your work. You do it at your own risk. Always consult the service manual for correct instruction.
