I am glad Honda made it accessible on the 2.4 engine. Some cars make it so hard to get to.

This is very common issue with almost cars. Neglected oil and filters services usually cause this problem. Years back I bought a used Nissan Tiida 1.8, driving back home I noticed car was struggling to run as someone holding a neck to breath. Few days later, I did major service myself all plugs filters etc and luckily replaced the PCV with genuine part, old PCV was almost chocked no rattling sound. After service when I drive the car it was total different car..more pick, smooth idle and drive. But the old PCV had already done the damage when few days later in morning struggle to start. Obd2 showed crankshaft sensor problem when I removed old crankshaft sensor it was completely covered with engine oil then I realized old pcv valve damaged the main Centre seal and pool of oil was in engine and transmission housing belly. Unfortunately oil was not dripping on ground so I couldn't noticed it though it was reducing engine oil. Long post but my experience replace PCV early 60k or 80k if oil drains are late and check main Centre seal.

Thanks for the video. Changed the PCV valve on ours with this video. The old valve still rattled a little as well. I saw in the comments that you said it did not fix the oil consumption and you were trying something else. Have you released that video yet? If so what is it's title? Thanks
@TrickShiftGarage Жыл бұрын
Nope, haven't filmed it yet but I plan on doing it at some point this year! Basically, it consists of removing the spark plugs and putting a few drops of either Seafom or Marvel Mystery Oil on top of the piston. Apparently, that could solve the oil consumption issue these engines face, but I definitely want to test it to confirm.
@TrickShiftGarage Жыл бұрын
Oh, and I'm going to let the Seafoam or MMO sit on the piston for a couple of days before putting the spark plugs back in and starting the engine. Even if it doesn't solve the oil consumption issue, it will clean up the carbon deposits pretty well.
@kbj1210610 ай бұрын
I put 5 oz of sea foam in the crankcase per sea foam directions. As I researched these engines had too small of oil holes in the pistons from new. So a better way I thought was to go into the oil with the sea foam. Jury still out but switched to Shell T-5 blended 15-40 diesel oil and that alone helped. Still have massive blowby.

Great video! Is it same for 3.5L V6 as well?
@TrickShiftGarage9 ай бұрын
Hello, no it's kind of different on the 3.5 V6. I believe the PCV Valve is located right behind the oil fil cap on the V6 and is more of a black plastic tube, as opposed to the metal one on the 4 cylinder. But the procedure is the same. Just remove the old one and install the new one.

I heard the valve cover gasket can leak.
@TrickShiftGarage Жыл бұрын
Yea I have heard that too. But I don't believe that's the issue with this car. There was no oil around the spark plugs and the car doesn't have any smoke coming out of the exhaust. Sometimes (as is the case with this Accord) oil consumption issues can be so difficult to find. But I'm still going to try! Thanks for watching! 🤟
@ChmodX8 ай бұрын
I noticed a valve cover gasket leak a few weeks ago. Today my oil light came on and needed almost 2 quarts to top it back off. Tomorrow I'm replacing the pcv valve to try and fix. I hope it's not the pistons and rings. That'll be new car time.

Haha if you like torque specs”! Haha good one bro

🤣
@sickofthebullshit196710 ай бұрын
It’s an aluminium head and using the correct torque specifications is good practice,this goes for spark plugs or anything that is screwed into the aluminium head,but you wouldn’t even think of doing this would you because your more than likely just a hoon rev head that doesn’t gaf about important things like torque specifications with aluminium heads until you have to replace things that you’ve over torqued then they either snap off in the head or the threads get damaged ! Common sense and logic which your generation doesn’t have.
