Great video. My wife’s 2013 read door would not open. She took it to dealer and for $77.00, they told her it needed a new door lift assembly. For $1,600.00. She decided she could do it manually for that. I went looking for a how-to and found you. Sure enough, the switch was off!! Thank you so much.

Wow, I'd take that information back to that crooked, thieved, corrupt dealer service department and tell them you caught them trying to extort $1600 when they knew about the switch. I'd further report them to the bbb and put it out on SSM. They can't sue for liable because what you said is true. That is outrageous for a dealer. I'm glad it's fixed.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Our 2013 Highlander just spent two weeks at the dealership because a fuse went. It turned out to be a module and a short a wire somewhere. we got it back and the lift gate worked one but not again. I tried several things I read but you had the answer. My husband, not a kid at all, got the manual out because the rear camera seemed dark. When we put it back we must have somehow hit that button. We didn't even know there was an on/off for the lift gate. Thank you so much!

Thanks for video. Just had AC evaporator replaced and when I picked up car from mechanic, rear tailgate would just beep but would not work. Switch in glovebox was off. I didn't even know there was a switch there and was planning to take car back to workshop so thanks for your video explaining the fix.

Yep had the same issue and this fixed it. Felt so dumb but also that's not a very intuitive place for the button. The owners manual didn't mention it either.

I took it to the dealership and they read the code from the computer then said take it to a body shop to fix.... This button was the fix!

My 2012 highlander was just recently returned to me from the dealer (had to replace the carpet and drain tubes due to a mold issue) and all of a sudden my rear hatch would not open when I tried the key gib and the button inside the truck. Thank God so came across your video on KZbin. You Jesus Dr saved me about $500 I’m sure. I figured that is what the would have charged me to switch the little button that I gif not know was hiding behind the glovebox. I’m following your channel now. 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😊

My button on the key fob works and the inside button but not the button on the hatch to lift it. Once it's open though I can push the close button and it will work
