2008 Dodge Avenger Won't Start Intermittently (Easy Fix)

Sometimes the car started but others only battery and a clicking sound.

2009 Dodge Avenger, same set up. 5-6 starts with clicking. Watched this video. Cleaned and lubricated same bolt assembly and the ground bolt right next to it. 12 starts with NO clicking! You just saved me $100 on a starter and an hour or so of labor. Thank you!.

I have an issue with my 08 avenger where the dash lights will turn on intermittently. sometimes it'll turn on sometimes it wont so i've had to learn my speeds by feel. it also will sometimes turn on a few miles down the road and stay on. any ideas?

@@YamiGenesis I'm not sure where to start, but just in case, have your battery checked cause these batteries are tricky. One temporary option could be connect a cheap GPS System for a constant MPH gauge

I love these comments. It had to be this or that. These are not mechanics. They are people who throw parts at cars and either finally get lucky or end up taking it to a real mechanic after spending hundreds of dollars. There are many things that can cause this issue. Get out a multimeter. This one tool can check all of these things if you learn how to use one. I just hate seeing bad advise from someone who hasn't even looked at your car but it's telling you exactly what you need to buy. Good luck!

I'm no mechanic...but If I suspected a starter problem- I'd tap on it with a hammer. if that doesn't work I'd replaced (rebuilt is selling online for $60). When a car doesn't start it's either a fuel or fire/electrical problem. I'd start ruling out the ignition system, e.g. spark and ruling out a fuel system cause using starter fluid. Keep in mind these batteries are very, very temperamental. I hope this helps

Things that males your car work is one Spark, Fuel, and air. So check your spark plugs that can be an issue

Same problem here, I have the same dodge Avenger 2008 SXT and some times happen it, but as you said, it is only a poor connection, could be either that connection or even the battery connections.

Also the auto shutdown relay could be the problem, I have same car but the relays that auto parts sites say fit are wrong. There are 4 relays above tips 1st one is and, the other 3 work with radiator fan. I also noticed my relays are 5 pin and some only have wiring for 4 pins. Btw check your subframe for rust they're bad for that.

Baking soda and water or battery cleaner. Also wire brush or steel wool

You are lucky. This is usually a bad SKREEM, a bad TIPM or a bad column lock module. Repairs are more than the car's worth. Cleaning the cable lugs us just normal maintenance. These cars are crap. High book on mine now us $1400. I'm going to scrap the piece of garbage.

@@mzcova82 when it shuts off while u r driving, its either the fuel pump or the timing belt...when the alternator goes bad, u can see the dashboard lights dimming before it comes to a stop

@@tomasgaspar8065 thank you. Found out the wire from the alternator was touching a metal part under the hood that caused the problem. Who ever put my alternator made the mistake and it caused a wire from the alternator to burn. It has been replaced and fixed!!!

@@eagleclaw56 Check your fuel pump just start your car but don't let it fully turn over just hear if there is a winding noise in the back or your starter might be going out that could be the problem as well. Watch Chrisfix on KZbin a video called how to revive a a car that's not turning over that should help.
