One of the nice things about the 2008 and newer Hayabusa is that it has the S-DMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector). This is essentially a built in Power Commander. The C-Mode setting neuters the bike down to 114 HP and about 70 lbs of torque at the rear wheel. That falls between the 600 and 750 Sportbikes (at least in HP). Perfectly manageable, especially for someone that has at least some experience, or that has taken a MSF course and paid attention.

Hey there Adworthy. Yeah. I lowered mine and it handles like a race bike. I hit the canyons all the time on my ZX14 and there are not to many bikes that keep up with me. Either experianced racer on big bikes, and very very rare a 600 tircked out. It is the best all around bike for me, and many of my fellow riders that have taken feel on my bike, can not understand while it feels like a 600. Suspention mods and some others, and my bike is untouchable. Let me know when you get yours?

They both use radial mount calipers, but the ZX-14 uses a pump master cylinder and has more pads per piston. And yeah, the ZX has dual counterbalancers to the Hayabusa's one. That is why the Kawi tends to stand for refinement, while the Busa (with dual injectors per cylinder and better suspension and riding position for sporting) for sportier touring.

a GSF 1200S. Even though you have to lean a lot more and your back takes some toll, the angle of your arms makes things a lot more confortable. The seat has a lot of space, front and back. The interference from the wind is really small and can be completely removed by leaning inside the bubble. While in the bubble, you can rest your chest on the gas tank. You have mode A, B and C for fuel consumption and overall power and responsiveness. C mode has less power than a GSF 1200S so the range's high

I am [insert really big adjective] amazed that two people actually agree on youtube. Good for us. I forgot a part in my argument that you'll probably agree with. Here: The economical reason doesnt stand when you reach the end of a bike's life before changing category, but for ?[some->a few->a lot->most]? people, you get tired after a year or two of riding, but then again it's a matter of opinion & situation. In my situation, my opinion is 500+.

the zx 14 motor feels less peaky and is more smoother than the busa motor...it just seems to expand and with hardly any g-force just matter transports you....i own a 2006 and i have ridden a busa...prefer the busa riding position and the style of it from the bars back...the design of the zx14 rear is awful...but what sold me when i bought new...$A19,000 in Australia....was the kwacka motor...its one of the best of anything on the road.....try it see what i mean, like a v8 on crack

I agree with you 100%. But, do you say the same thing to the all new 2009 R1 ? Its got a new shorter stroke engine, with cross blade crank shaft, lighter and tighter more torque and more grip all sums up to a typical Yamaha thrill and fun filled ride. Would you still give up a 2009 R1 for an R6 if you had to race alongside GSX 1300 and ZX 14R, when I say race, I dont mean drags, I mean a proper race, something like in midtown, throttle to the mettle and brake like your foots stuck in a saddle.

I did my courses on a Suzuki GS500 and I know they can pack a punch (we had much freedom on the road and trust me, I did all I could do). However, I didn't realize fully the strength and danger- of a bike until I jumped on a R6 and did 120-190-60km/h to clear my path and take a "switcher" (u know, between highways) and ended up 1m short of hitting the exterior. I'm glad I did this before jumping on a Hayabusa.

Suzuki is smart, they didn't make the 08 busa too complete because of the large after-market support. What a thrill it is when the torque from a full throttle shift pulls your arm sockets!!!

@jflexe99 (2/2)... have less comfortable seats, because of higher RPM engine suffers more, less amount of reserve power etc. High speed and drags don`t mean much too me since I mostly ride with a passanger on normal roads between 120-200km/h. You can ride for a whole day and don`t get a butt-ache, fuel consumption is the same as on 600cc SS bikes, service intervals costs the same or less (because engine suffers less - better ratio engine volume/power) etc. You just got to try it.

Bottom line, I love my '07 ZX-14. between it and the 'Busa though, it's really down to the rider. but the last test I saw, the 2008 ZX-10R was faster than both these bikes 0-180, we'll see how the new Beemer does, I personally like how it looks.

@MrBigj6996 I am gettting ready to buy either a busa or the zx-14 seems like on the busa you are leaning alot more foward like yuou are going down towards the ground. and starts to shake when u get going fast. I drove a ZX-14 and I was doing 180 withen 15 to 30 seconds. and it was a smooth shifting and a smooth ride. I have also heard the busa corners better

The riding is INCREDIBLY SMOOTH in C and B, almost like a Goldwing 1800 and consumes around 6L/km in city. And this bike takes corners like you can never imagine. I was in a big loop ->/-P/ between highways giving a 35km/h recommendation. I checked the speed in the curve and was astonished to see 116km/h without any sign of struggle from the bike. That's for the Hayabusa. Now for an R6 being practicle...yeah right-_-. Go for an FZ6 or FZ1(which I forgot to say I owned for a while) or a GSF1250S.

Huh, didn`t know so many people don`t like the design of those two bikes. Personally, Busa is one of the beautiest machines ever made because it is different. For instance R1 is a very common sportbike, very nice to ride but design is like "deja vu", while Busa you can notice from a mile. Same for the ZX-14.

I purchased new back in 2008 ZX-14 special edition, with only 9K it's mint. Now it's time for rims, turbocharging it, along with Ohlins suspension, 330 Braketeck, LED headlights. I'll never sell this machine, fits us big guys perfect. It too bad they are going retire it. Kawasaki please upgrade it with latest electronics package and supercharger, the king will be back then.

well production bike vs production bike, the new R1 won the 2009 bike of the year from Motorcyclist magazene for being so innovational. the new cross plain crankshaft is absolutely genius, its a design straight from motogp. production bike vs production bike like i said.. the r6 still has faster lap times over the 09 r1, the liter bikes are a lot more street friendly tho, the new r1 is awesome for sure tho

Thats just wat everyone that dont really know bikes say. I owned a "2005 Suzuki Bandit GSF1200S" and a "2001 Honda Goldwing 1800", rode a few times a "2002 Honda ST1100", an old "(yearX)Kawasaki Concours", a "2003 Yamaha R6" and an "(yearX)Yamah FJR1300". My parents now own that Goldwing (which is a gem in its kind) and I own a 2008 Hayabusa. I must say that I never saw in my life a bike so near perfection than this. The riding position is way better than other sports bikes and even better than

@Banderius79 Nice ;) But I am not much into sport bikes. I had one but am not keen to have another. Too much pain everywhere on my body, suspension is also a bit too stiff for bumpy country roads. Especially my butt and my wrists ache. I love comfort for travelling and lots of torque. Since I weight about 100kg, it is not too heavy for me, but generally I agree with you.

@jflexe99 I know what you mean, but once you try it, you`ll know what I mean. I had bikes of 600cc and 750cc but didn`t enjoy them as much as Blackbird, even if it`s heavier and doesn`t go as easy into the corners as lighter bikes do. But the difference is so small you even don`t notice that on normal roads but rather on race circuits. So for normal everyday use, I would stay away from SS bikes which are uncomfortable to ride, have less torque, too much gear switching... (1/2)

Sorry, but I have to disagree a bit. My first bike was a ZRX 1100 with performance cams etc. pushing 130 horse and 80+ pft. I think it a great beginner because it was very predictable with lots of torque down low. My gsxr 600 was a dog down low, but kicked at 8-10 000 in an unpredictable way. As long as your not stupid with big displacement the torque allows you to ride over-geared, and the power is a bit more predictable. The 1400 zx will be my next buy, as a sport tourer.

"some review, thanks for not telling us which minor details they didn't pay attention to." They said in the article that the brakes where not quite as good as the 14, they could of used radial mounted masters, slightly more buzzing in the engine at 80mph, a little off idle stumble, and a busy dash layout. All this is splitting hairs, in there opinion.

I've riden on both bikes ("11" ZX14 & "11" BUSA) and can't really feel a difference between them. Its so minor that people are so fucken retarded when they bash one more than the other and half the time they don't own either. Id say coin flip or pic the one u think looks nicer. My best friend already had the ZX14 so I chose the Busa and have no regrets. They're both fuckin awesome bikes!

i love both suzuki and kawasaki, they have kept each other in check for 25 years that i can think of. the busa and 14r are splitting hairs between them. but as a sport bike fan i still lean to the 1000cc models. yes 90% of the power, but when the road starts to turn the 1000cc bikes show that they handle a lot better. and i'd take a 1000cc form suz. kaw. honda or yam. over these two. because these four put out 1000cc bikes that run and handle great.

The cross plain crankshaft weighs more, reduces power, but makes power more usable across the powerband. Good for riding, bad for numbers. On the other hand, the new S1000RR makes more horsepower than any other stock bike out there. Put a turbo on it, and even the zx14 yuppies will have to shut up.
