Top job , i like the water pump pulley trick , now i feel like an idiot like why didnt i take the time to think about it and do the same. the timing belt tensioner has a nice adjusting mechanism. the spark plug tricks are good too , so i wasted money on a tools when i couldve used fuel hose LOL.

My water pump is making a weird noise. I thought was the belt and remove then tight again, but still making it. When I push gas noise goes away, when I stop or an idling it make the noise. I used a stetoscope and I hear the noise by the water pump bearing, but the car is not getting hot. Everything is working fine.
@ziggassedup Жыл бұрын
If the pump bearing is noisy then it won't be long before it begins to leak and possibly fail to the point of the belt failing and you don't want that...Cheers Phillip.
@irisbaez1972 Жыл бұрын
@@ziggassedup Yeah, it happened to me as well. I replace everything brand new. My water pump was only 50K miles old, and I don't think it was OEM. Now the car running well. no more noise, so it was the pump.

I want to do this on my coupe 1.6L . Heard that the engine are similar. But some guys told me not to try without a locking kit, as I will never be able to sync the belt on a dohc engine using the marks only. Now I think again going for it...
@ziggassedup4 жыл бұрын
No locking kit needed...As a matter of fact I've done hundreds of timing belt replacements and never used a locking kit 'tho there are some engines that do require them if you remove the cam and crank gears because they don't have a keyway in them to align the gears...You'll be right mate.

Hello, great information on to replace the timing belt. I have the same car but the check engine light keeps coming on and it was giving me the code p0011 saying "Replace oil control valve. However, it's the belt from the mechanic shop I took it twice and they were trying to rip me off of $800. I could not afford the repair. I still have the light on but It must be taken care of immediately. I have a gadget called "FIXD" and it's been giving me the same diagnosis. Do you have the information quotes of how much are the parts and where could I buy them? I was thinking of replace the parts. So I wont have to spend money on a mechanic. I know it takes a lot of work but I'd rather fix this issue on my own.

Check the intake cam timing...You didn't have the code before you changed the belt right.?...

@@ziggassedup The timing belt was already changed before. But the diagnostics says it over-advanced bank 1. I still have the check engine light on. I need to change the correct belt.
