The 2008 season was the Car of Tomorrow's full time running. Digger's track camera Debuts, Toyota finally wins in the Cup Series as well as they did in Xfinity and ARCA. But of course, the worst economic crisis was happening in NASCAR. Chip Ganassi was losing its team until they partnered with DEI forming Earnhardt and Ganassi racing the next year, and Bill Davis Racing was shut down and bankrupt at the end of the season. But then you have the tire problems that happened in Indianapolis, and finally the driver winning the most races in 2008 was Carl Edwards, who used to be my all-time favorite driver when it comes to his backflip.

I remember watching Jeff Gordon’s hard crash at Las Vegas with my dad (I was 6 years old when it happened) and the both of us were shocked that Jeff Gordon didn’t seriously injure himself. Had that happened 10 years earlier, Jeff would have easily been killed behind the wheel of that car.

No. I loved it. It shook nascar up. Only problem was, HMS had so much data helping nascar build it, they got 3-4 years ahead of the field, hence why JJ was able to dominate outside of the known cheating. So for a race car stand point, I love the COT. As a nascar fan, and JJ hater, it i hated it.

Yes. 4 races per year out of 30-something were decent. Awesome.

Much worse compared to Tony Stewart in the recent wreck unseen where he hurt his shoulder again. But I can hardly tell what is worse? Jeff Gordon's Vegas crash or Jeff Fuller's Xfinity wreck in Kentucky 2 years back.

God going from the gen4 to the cot was, next to the implementation of stages and playoffs, the worst decision nascar has ever made
@NolanRempel6 ай бұрын
Eh, I disagree slightly. I mean NASCAR had to evolve eventually, I personally liked the look of them with the wing. (Although I'm glad they removed it when it was clear how much of a safety hazard it was.) I think the implementation of playoffs (and maybe stages) was a far worse move. The COT was just a wobbly step in inevitable moves forward. And hey, the 2011 season was an absolute banger.
@therobbinsnest456 ай бұрын
@@NolanRempelI get it, but the cot specifically was the wrong way to go, and fans universally panned it. I remember this era well, and one thing most people forget is how bad these cars raced. Aero was absolutely awful with these things. Brian France even admitted he pulled the trigger too soon on the cot, although he should admit that basically everything else he did was a bust as well. All of the safety upgrades with the cot could have easily been implemented in the gen 4 car, not that safety was really a concern by 07. Other than Nadeau, with the implementation of the Hans after Blaise was killed, no one was seriously injured in those cars. Fast-forward to 2022 and drivers were dropping like flies with the next gen car. All of that to say, this period of nascar is just depressing, the downfall of the sport and its not even come close to recovering. Just my opinion

Then you weren’t paying attention. The car races great. People just hate it because NASCAR fans are sheep and just go along with what everyone else believes.
