Thank you so much for your video, I purchased a 2005 R1200RT used last month and it was from the original owner, the bike had 42000 miles on it and has had the local dealer working on it since new, they did the fuel pump recall and a front suspension recall amongst other things. The fuel strip was replace twice once on warranty and once customer pay the fuel strip is not working again at purchase day. I located a wrecker on ebay and purchased what he said was a good working strip and with the help of your excellent video just replaced the strip myself by taking off the filler neck and removing the fuel pump. Back together again with ease thanks to your video. Viola I have a working fuel gauge! I have a further question for you, I leave my bike parked for the summer months as I'm a snow bird and go back to Canada for the summer. Is it best to leave my R1200RT in my garage in Arizona with the fuel tank dead full to the neck, that way no air is exposed to the fuel strip. Could it be that the issue with these strips is that the are parked with say a 1/3 tank of gas or close to empty. What are your feelings on this. Again thanks in advance. Reg

I wrote in and asked about issues with the K1200 LT cruise control and you put out a video showing things to look for. I have had issues with my cruise control only working intermittently when the weather was warmer. It hardly worked in the morning when it was cool and it would work most of the time when coming home in the afternoon when it was warmer. I have no idea why. However, over the winter I did an alarm-ectomy, spark plug, plug wires and O2 sensor replacement (and of course shift linkage service). Since then my cruise control system has never failed to operate. Could it be that the alarm was causing my issues? It's now pushing up daisies in some land fill. RIP piece of crap!

One glove….. Michael Jackson!! How about showing the removal of the tail plastics. I haven’t finished installing the crash guards for my RT’s bags yet. Looks to complicated to me and it was way too cold in my garage last March when I installed the. Thanks again Kirk! Fine job indeed!

@@sol756db There was one British guy, if I remember correctly, that showed taking the tail plastic off but he sped the camera speed up so fast and had the camera so far back you could see what he was doing. Don’t remember how I worded the search language to find it but it took a while to find him. If you figure it out let me know.

so I need to know how to replace the antenna base on mine as a vandal broke it off. I have no idea how to get the dash area on the right side accessible to be able to unscrew the cable and mount the new base. Any help is appreciated.

You may need ot remove the nose section for that. It is likely plugged in behind the fairing somewhere. I have not done one yet but would.

@@kirksmotorrad Thanks Kirk, please let me know what you find out. The Dealer quoted 4 hours of shop time to replace the antenna base. The antenna assembly was like $331 so plus 4 hours would be like $731 - ouch. I'm up for doing it myself if I can figure out how to open up the dash. I have taken off the plastic cover and each side areas but didn't venture inside it more than that as I wasn't sure how it came apart. The diagram isn't very informative.

Should have shown the right side first or at all its very different from the left. You gonna come short if you not "under the hood" often like my self. Always easy if u know how but will be problematic if u dont.
