Fantastic video totally ruined (IMHO) by unnecessary, irrelevant and intrusive music throughout. I gave up watching it after five attempts to hear what Dag Pike was saying about the cancellation of the second leg - his voice is drowned out by the music.

@@mikelloyd75 much respect to you for your contribution to a historic and unique race. Could this race or similar happen again do you think?
@mikelloyd753 жыл бұрын
@@coastncountryedits680 No, IMHO it will never happen again. We suffered badly at the hands of the "Greens" before the race began and they actually called me an "environmental terrorist". So you can imagine that today, 13 yrs later how bad it would be if it was attempted again. So no, I don't think it will happen again, that was the last one!

Actually impossible, it takes two years to put that together. And then you need the competitors! Without then you dont have a race and this race is expensive to take part in let alone put together.

Round England, Wales and the easy part of Scotland race. Yes, yes, I'm sure it's hard work and you deserve respect. But this was the Round most of Britain race. Missed the prettiest part too. And what the hell is with the musak? Which pillock mixed the audio on this?

Round Britain not "Round United Kingdom" and you have no idea of the work involved in preparation and competing. I was on board for the duration as technician for one of the top ten teams so I speak from experience.

I believe the next Round Britain was won by the 51' Ice Marine trimaran Bladerunner(Bradstone Challenger), a boat I would give everything to own.

@@mikelloyd75 Well we have a Miami-Bimini-Miami race here and the Caribbean offshore racers hold a Trinidad-Tobago-Trinidad race every year I think. Neither one is as long as the Round Britain race though. I can't even imagine a Bermuda Triangle race. That one might be twice the length of yours.
@mikelloyd752 жыл бұрын
@@dieseldog00 That will never happen of course, there's no hunger in America for long distance offshore powerboat races. The Brits have however and have proved it several times. The longest offshore powerboat race in the world was held here in 1972, it was the 2,400nm London to Monte-Carlo race, won by a British Team in a British Boat - it's on KZbin somewhere. That boat is still racing over here 40 yrs later!! Princess Grace of Monaco presented the prizes, I have all the pictures! That race will never happen again, I spent 2.5yrs trying!

Seems a few boats get all the coverage whilst other awesome powerboats like Cinzano are insulted by their invisibility in this video. Very strange. And the shit music being too loud in places?
@mikelloyd754 жыл бұрын
I ensured that EVERY boat that took part was filmed from the helicopter as it was only fair to the competitors who had pored sweat, toil and tears, and of course huge lumps of money in being there. Unfortunately I had no control over the final video which was made by a company for commercial showing and therefore was time limited. I actually have over 30 hours of film from which they took what they thought was the best bits. Re Cinzano and a few others, many had mechanical problems that were so severe that they spent most of the Race on their trailers following the pack!! Eventually, Cinzano managed to overcome their engine problems and took part in the Cowes/Torquay/Cowes race a couple of months later and did well.
