Just put a new battery in it, changed the spark plugs, and put on a new gas cap. Just hit 174,000 miles and it’s still like new. Toyota has never disappointed us. @@DaylyDriverDayly.I just bought me this car from my local Toyota dealership is the le model. I was hesitant to buy it at first because comparing it to my 1998 Camry it seems to be more noisy actually my 98 is pretty smooth the sales guy explained to me that is normal because the Corolla has a small engine and is a 1.8 but anyways I bought it because it did handle a very steep hill without any problem. But the only issue that I have with it now is getting used to the buzzing sound of the engine going from 1st to 2nd it took me about 2 hours to noticed the sound, I actually thought it was the siren of a fire truck lol I was getting ready to pull over to the curb, then I realized it was my but I'm glad that I bought it, it actually has pretty good acceleration for a small car, it feels like is telling me, come on step on the accelerator press on it I can take it don't ask me permission I'm ready to go, yeah I'm starting to really like it now way better than the 2000 Honda civic I used to have, and the dealership practically made sure all the mechanical components were in perfect condition, everything that needed to be replaced or serviced was done brand new tires, serpentine belt, new fluids,no leaks ,I paid 75 hundreds dollars for it but it was worth it, is like buying a new car even the struts and suspension is perfect. Most used cars that are bought at used cars dealerships usually need some immediate attention because there's always something that needs to be replaced and preventive maintenance that needs to be done. It looks like I the only thing I have to worry about right now is changing the oil when it gets to 5000 miles because of my extreme driving of stop and go traffic doing grubhub food delivery. Thank God I didn't back down from buying it in spite of the buzzing sound is a great car and the buzzing sound goes away after a second or two it only does it when accelerating after coming to a stop, maybe that is the way of the car telling me, hey I just went from 1st to 2nd lol.

One thing that all potential purchasers of this generation of Corolla should be made aware of is that the odometer stops working at 299,999 miles. It's a design flaw that all 2003-2008 Corollas are afflicted with. What this means is that once the car hits 299,999 miles, there is no way of knowing how many more miles the driver is putting on the car. You could install a new gauge cluster for about $1000, but that is expensive.

I've got a 2008 Corolla and it has been relatively low-maintenance. I just do the basic things( tuneups, oil changes, etc) myself now that I've paid it off. The one thing I have a problem with is that the spare tire in the truck will not come out. I tried twisting and screwing off the round top that holds it down to the floor of trunk but it still isn't coming off. I'm debating using bolt cutters to just lop it off and be done with.

I know this is 7months old but in my 05 corolla hatchback, the spare tyre had never been used so it was really stuck tight in that position. I got a decently heavy wrench and hit the side of the rubber to release it from where it was sitting for 10 years.

2008 S owner. A few tips of my own: - Don’t buy the S. It’s literally just a trim package (spoiler, body moulding, etc). Nothing about the car’s performance is enhanced, it’s just a “for looks” package that you end up paying more money for. - Get the manual. OH MY GOD GET THE MANUAL!!!! The auto in these cars is soul sucking and especially dangerous if it decides to lag while you’re trying to merge in rush hour traffic, and my worth dealing with unless you want to pay 300 dollars for a pedal commander (the next thing I’m doing to the car.) - If you’re going to get a newer head unit, install it yourself. It’s not at all difficult and you’ll save installation costs.
@DaylyDriverDayly6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you that the S model is all about the looks and does nothing for performance. This is why I bought the most basic model corolla with manual roll up and down windows. I wanted nothing more than the cheapest easiest to maintain car with the best mpg for long travels. I wish I could have had the stick shift corolla

It IS a good car in that regard, in whichever configuration you get. I’ve seen 32 mpg on the highway (granted that was taking my time and not going over 3000 rpm to get up to speed), and the parts for this car are inexpensive- a serpentine belt was something like 25 dollars. I think the sweet spot for me would have been the LE manual. Oh! P0741 code. Yikes. I have to get that fixed before I move out to California, otherwise I won’t be able to register the car. That’s my one complaint. Well, that and the fact that three of the door locks won’t lock automatically like they’re supposed to.

@@DaylyDriverDayly yes i think toyota messed up the paint job during painting production, wasn't a coincidence when i saw a lot of those on google. But it i did also contributed to the problem as i didn't wax or polish the car and the car is not garaged. But at this point i don't really care anymore, don't really feel like paying $2k to repaint it, it's an 11 year old economy car, still runs like it's new and the best part is no car payments which i can use that to invest.

@@Kureni it was just a cheap paint job from the factory that toyota did on the Corollas. there are plenty of them out there like that

What do you think of a 2008 Toyota Corolla CE that has 87,000 miles for $4550? It’s white and overall is in good condition.

The 2008 is the best one out of all of that generation 2003 is garbage the higher you go the better you get to 2008's until the main thing is under the oil cap they make noise arriving knock in the motor pretty much all God you can find more without that noise you got a winner it's very rare to find one of those not make any noise at all I seen the moment 11,000 miles it was like new Under the oil cap it's on Marketplace to still at the moment and is one another one for like ten thousand look like s*** under the oil cap but it's the guys got about 30,000 miles on it 10000 you got one looks like brand-new under the oil cap no noise in the motor change the oil every 3,000 Mi of full synthetic oil last year or else double large and lose power and dies sludge bucket
