2008 Trailblazer SS Engine Rebuild! Knocking! + Cam Package PT1 (4K)

Here we go! I've got a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS in the garage with the dreaded knocking engine. This is a common problem generally due to the inadequate oil control of the front sump oil pan. In this series I will demonstrate how to rebuild the engine, and modify the oil pan to help control the oiling. Make sure to subscribe and follow along on this small journey!

Nice work can't wait to see what you find. My TBSS is a 2Wd but I'm starting ro wish it was Awd because its now my daily driver and I would rather have the Awd for snow here in NYC.

This what scares me about my 97x, me not being able body enough to check the oil frequently. How often should I get the oil checked?

I check the fluids on all of our cars weekly, so it's hard to say. depends on how much you drive and history of fluids needed in any given amount of time. It also depends on how you drive it.

That's actually not a bad price, depending on how in depth the rebuild is. Is that all stock or performance parts?

Mine is awd and love the thing specially here in the PNW! I’m planning on doing the same but plan to retain the AWD. Is there a particular reason why you wouldn’t recommend the AWD? I understand the concept of more moving parts equals more maintenance.

It really mostly depends on your preference; anything can be maintained. The thing about these trucks is that the AWD/4X4 system requires a lot more maintenance than most others, so if you don't mind the maintenance there's no issues. If you remove the Awd, you will get more power to the ground, the vehicle handles better and feels more agile. The other issue I have with the TBSS/AERO Awd system is if any wheel loses traction the vehicle will not move, so if you have a cv axle break or anything you are dead in the water. You can literally jack up one of the wheels in your driveway and it will not move at all. The electronic AWD or auto AWD systems like the 5.3 or 4.2 has is completely different though and does not have that issue.

It's not hard at all if you do some research and source the correct parts. My advice to you is to buy a donor vehicle so you will have what you need.
