So you said your reusing the pistons. Correct? New rings Im guessing? So are you just honing the cylinders ? I've been told that can cause ring breakage because of the wear of the cylinder walls. Is that true ?

Yes I reused the pistons, and installed new rings. You will need to hone the cylinders to help the rings break in and seal correctly. You really don't have to worry about the cylinder walls unless it is super high mileage or has damage. Even on higher mileage engines I have had great success using a ridge reamer to cut the top of the cylinder, and then stone hone it. I do not like bottle brush hones for cylinder walls, they cover up imperfections.
