2009 Corolla S Turbo 5MT - Sound Clip

This has 2 short videos of my 2009 Corolla S 5MT that I turbocharged with the kit from Turbokits.com. My tune has an 8.6psi maximum boost and the dyno showed 205whp which is roughly 230hp at the crank. The engine from the factory is rated at 132hp at the crank. Factory crank torque is 128 ft/lbs and I'm at roughly 205 ft/lbs at the crank and 175 ft/lbs at the wheels. The extra power has transformed the car. Although I can have more boost dialed in I'm happy with the power and I feel that the famous Toyota reliability will remain at this level.

@@jimsgaragetoys I'm assuming you got got it Dyno Tuned. Heard that it's not the easiest thing to do with Toyota corollas. Don't know if that's true or not. Something about it being difficult to work with the corolla stock ECU.

@@robmen1402 When I bought the turbo kit it was designed to use a piggyback ECU. It came with an AEM FIC and that came with a base tune. I found a local tuner than was an expert with the AEM FIC and he dyno tuned it to make sure it was perfect. It's been fantastic over the years.

@@jimsgaragetoys Ooh so that piggy back ECU already comes tuned so you can just install the turbo kit and it's good to go. But you took it to a tuner to make sure that it's tuned as best as possible. Gotcha, that's cool. I didn't know that some turbo kits can come with a piggy back ECU like that. Nice.

@@robmen1402 Yes, it's a base tune to allow you to drive it until you get a final tune. Ever car is different and people select different options for the turbo kit. People will also run different size exhausts so all of these affect the tune and what will need to be dialed in. Also the elevation of the new owner will change things up.

Almost sounds like my 2003 corolla S. The only shit i added was a AEM short ram and a dual tip exhaust to get that nice tone without the drone sound attacthed. If you ever want a nice sound without sounding like a obnoxious loud slow infiniti G35 install those parts. Corollas always had a nice smooth sound when adding some performance parts compared to other cars that are loud but slow still.

This car sounded great with my Takeda SRI and Borla axle back before the turbo system. It now has the turbo kit with a 3" SS exhaust and a Magnaflow muffler with a nice tone and fun turbo noises. I get compliments on the exhaust sound all the time. 😍

Yes, all the internals are stock and the engine has never been opened up. The turbo kit designed by Turbokits.com allows the use of around 8-10 psi on stock internals. I've had mine installed for 4 1/2 years now and I love the additional power being available when I need it.

@@MNasrr The turbo system has been very reliable and has run perfectly in the 4 1/2 years that I've had it. You don't install a CAI with a turbo as the air to the intake comes from the intercooler so it's been cooled down. Most cars need a larger exhaust for the turbo to work properly. In my case a 3" exhaust was recommended and that's what I installed. I bought the 3" stainless steel exhaust that Turbokits.com sells for 10th Gen Corolla. I went from a stock 132bhp to 230bhp with the turbo kit.

I would guess around $5k. You can do it for less but I opted for some upgrades. Go onto the website for Turbokits.com and play with the options and you will get an idea of what you want. I think that the base kit without engine management is around $2395.

I found both the TRD and 1.8T badges on eBay. And I painted the TRD badge red but the 1.8T badge came in black and I left it like that.

@@mustafaabid485 Well the first thing you need to do is confirm the engine that you have in your Corolla. You can then look at parts for it. If it is indeed a 1ZR-FE then most of the parts for the 2ZR-FE will also fit just fine. If you want some more power you can add an intake, header, and exhaust to allow it to breathe better. You could also install some Quantum Solenoids that are an upgrade for the VVT-i solenoids. The other option would be to turbocharge it as the turbo kit from Turbokits.com should bolt up just fine.

I don't know. I've never timed it and really don't care. I'm more thrilled with the drivability of it in the mountains and canyons that I drive. I use it for a lot of road trips that I drive mostly back roads on and it's everything that I want in a fun road trip car with great power for passing and pulling mountain passes.
