I actually miss the novice group, thesre was zero ego. My 2c for anyone starting out: when you get up the groups, just like racing, ride for yourself. So much fun. Awesome vid!!

Awesome video. Good job. Your first track day video with the 996 prompted me to get serious about doing one myself on my 998. I did one this summer and I am itching to go back.

Congrats on getting out there with your 998! I need to make it a point to get out to at least one track day a year. It's good for keeping riding skills sharp at the very least, but mostly it's just good fun 😄

So I just recently bought an 848 and have been looking through your videos for maintenance tips then I saw your plate in the very first episode and noticed its a JOCO plate! I grew up in Olathe and live in Pittsburg, KS now. So cool to see a local KZbinr! I've been to heartland park many times to run a Drift car me and buddy built. I definitely didn't get as good of a deal as you did on your bike so I'm going to be diy'ing the hell out of it haha! I'm already super thankful for your videos. Maybe we can meet up in person some day?!?! Thanks again!

@@PracticalEnthusiast I had a question about getting tech’d… would you be able to go over what most tracks look at? I signed up for a track day at Road America years ago only to fail because my oil drain plug and oil filter was not wire tied.
@PracticalEnthusiast
@PracticalEnthusiast 2 жыл бұрын
Tech inspections must vary widely across tracks and event organizers. I say that because the tech at this one was fairly minimal. Checking brake pads, controls, tires, & leaks. Safety wiring wasn't needed for anything and you can run with antifreeze.

@@acceleratefaster46 , my understanding is that 2 strokes are not officially banned, but unofficially, in that they can't pass the new Emissions laws. Are they no longer being made? Are the 2020 and older ones grandfathered in, such as the old RD's?

on the traction control and pirelli tires - just need to pay attention on the size of the tire i.e. 60s vs 55s if the standard is 60 and u opt for a 55 for whatever the reason you need to manage the settings on the dtc - "need to" is more like "its better"

@@PracticalEnthusiast you are very humble, which suits you well. Did you learn to drag your knee yourself? Or did you participate in a training course?
@PracticalEnthusiast
@PracticalEnthusiast 2 жыл бұрын
@@dfkuipers I watched enough motorcycle racing on TV to get an idea of the "correct" riding position in a turn 😄. I still have a long way to go on that though. But, once the bike is at enough of a lean, and your body position is slightly hung off the bike, knee dragging just "happens". It was a little alarming the first time it happened, but after that I started figuring out the amount of speed I needed to carry through a corner to drag a knee. I'm much better at it going left than I am going right, but a lot of that comes down to the track having more left hand turns to practice with.

Loving the content dude! How did you manage to get your 1198 to run so well? I have the 1098s, and it’s been plagued with stalling issues! Any suggestions? 🙏
@PracticalEnthusiast
@PracticalEnthusiast Жыл бұрын
I haven't done anything other than routine maintenance, so I'm not sure! But, I'd suggest looking into your Throttle Position Sensor. They do tend to fail, get broken during belt changes/valve adjustments, or fall out of adjustment. They are independently replaceable: www.gothamcycles.com/ducati-magneti-marelli-throttle-position-sensor-tps--potentiometer-ipf2cb-749999-8481198-sf-monster-s4rs-st3.html Note: You will need to run the "relearn" procedure on the ECU when installing a new TPS.

Yeah I noticed it a lot in braking and acceleration. The suspension change definitely helped a lot. I would check your steering dampener setting and mess around with it, or else it could be too tight on the grips, or when you are shifting your body weight you might be upsetting the bike. Hard to tell with just video. I used to get it in my early trackday videos as well. It was a combo of the last two for me. But Ducati’s are also a bit unruly in the front end. Great riding. Keep it up!
@PracticalEnthusiast
@PracticalEnthusiast 2 жыл бұрын
I definitely need to loosen my grip on the bars. That might make the biggest difference. I think the suspension might need a bit more tuning to get it settled but it's already leagues better than where it started.
